Maharatna PSU

The Maharatna PSUs are chosen from among the Navratna PSUs and must be listed on the Indian stock exchange in order to meet the minimum specified public shareholding under SEBI regulations. To obtain Maharatna status, the following conditions must be met:

  • During the last three years, the PSU's average yearly turnover has been more than Rs. 25,000 crores.
  • During the last three years, the average annual net worth has been more than Rs. 15,000 crores.
  • During the last three years, the average yearly net profit after tax has been greater than Rs. 5,000 crores.
  • The organization should have a strong worldwide presence or international operations.
  • According to the most recent survey, the country has 12 Maharatna CPSEs.

Navaratna PSU

  • The organization must have 'Miniratna Category - I' status as well as a Schedule 'A' classification.
  • At least three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) rated 'Excellent' or 'Very Good' in the recent five years.
  • Aside from that, it should have a composite score of 60 or above out of a potential 100 in the six performance parameters:- Net Profit to Net Worth Ratio (Maximum: 25)
    • Manpower costs to production or service costs (maximum: 15)
    • Gross margin as a percentage of capital utilized (maximum: 15)
    • Turnover as gross profit (maximum: 15)
    • Earnings per share (up to a maximum of 10)
    • Inter-sectoral comparison using net profit to net worth (maximum: 20)
    • The country has a total of 12 Navratna CPSEs.

Mini Ratna PSU

  • CPSEs that have shown profits in the last three years and have a positive net worth may be evaluated for Miniratna status.
  • There are currently 62 Miniratna I and 12 Miniratna II.

Category I : Public sector undertakings have made profits in the last three years or have made a profit of Rs. 30 crores or more in one of the previous three years.

Category II: Public sector undertakings that have produced profits in the previous three years and have a positive net worth in all three years.
