COAP Full Form: Common Offer Acceptance Portal that was established in 2017. Candidates with valid GATE scores must register at COAP in order to access M.Tech. admission offers from IITs or job offers from PSUs. COAP provides a venue for applicants choosing between offers from IITs/PSUs, allowing them to make informed decisions.
Every year, the GATE organizing institute from the previous year serves as the COAP coordinating institute. This year. IISc Bangalore is conducting the GATE COAP Counselling 2026 with 25 participating institutes.
Candidates must register for COAP before applying to any institute/PSU, as submitting the COAP registration number is required to apply to any participating institute for their MTech programs.
COAP is an abbreviation for Common grant Acceptance Portal, which is used to offer admission to postgraduate programs such as M.Tech in various specializations and PSU Jobs based on GATE Score. The GATE COAP is organised by several Indian Institutes of Technology across the country to fill M.Tech seats.
The officilal website of the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) 2026 has been introduced and the registration process started from 27 March 2026. Candidates having a valid GATE results for the years 2026/2025/2024/2023 can register for COAP 2026 to obtain M.Tech. admission and PSU Jobs.
Candidates should be aware that COAP is not an application portal for M.Tech admission to any participating institute. Candidates must apply separately to IITs for MTech admission and PSUs for the job. COAP is just the channel via which IITs and PSUs post their offers based on their selection criteria.

The COAP platform is open for GATE qualified candidates to secure admission of M.Tech. program in IITs as well as reputed jobs in PSUs. Candidates must register and select the courses and colleges to which they wish to be admitted.
The Common Offer Acceptance Portal is a common stage for registered applicants to secure the most preferred option for admission into an M.Tech program. All participating IITs and ISc Bangalore announce the results of seat allocation on this portal.
When it comes to registering for COAP, there are specific qualifying requirements that every candidate must complete in order to be considered for admission. Aspirants who do not meet the eligibility requirements are likely to be rejected.

Applicants must have a valid GATE Scorecard from the years 2026, 2025, 2024.
Candidates who wish to participate in the admissions process must first register on the GATE COAP 2026 portal. Applicants can, however, review the entire process for reference purposes.
Applicants can review the admission proposal using GATE COAP 2026 by following the procedures mentioned below.
Step 1: Navigate to the COAP Portal 2026.
Step 2: Enter your login information to gain access to your account.
Step 3: From the drop-down option, select "Seat Allotment".
Step 4: You can now see a list of seat allotments by college. Applicants can select one of three options: Accept and Freeze, Retain and Wait, or Reject and Wait.
It is critical that candidates have knowledge about the necessary documents and appropriate certificates with them while reporting/admission. Candidates who are found to be missing any of the aforementioned documents will be denied admission and their candidature will be revoked.
After the seat distribution process, applicants must confirm their seat allocation. They have the choice of selecting "Accept and Freeze," "Retain and Wait," "Reject and Wait," or "Reject."
Candidates receive offers from PSUs and IITs in rounds. There are approximately five primary rounds of offers and seven supplementary rounds of offers.
