GATE COAP Counselling 2026

COAP Counselling is the centralized offer acceptance process for GATE-qualified candidates seeking M.Tech admissions in participating IITs and IISc, as well as recruitment opportunities in participating PSUs. The counselling process begins after the declaration of the GATE results and allows candidates to view, compare, accept, reject, or retain offers received from different institutes through a single portal.

Candidates with a valid GATE 2027, 2026, 2025, or 2024 score can register for COAP. However, registration on COAP alone does not complete the admission process. Candidates must also apply separately to every IIT, IISc, or PSU they wish to join, as COAP only displays offers and does not accept admission applications.

GATE COAP Counselling 2027 FAQs

Q. Is COAP mandatory for M.Tech admission in IITs?

Yes. Candidates seeking admission to participating IITs and IISc through GATE must register on the COAP portal to view and respond to admission offers. However, they must also apply separately to the respective institutes.

Q. Can I apply to IITs only through the COAP portal?

No. COAP is not an application portal. Candidates need to submit separate applications to each participating IIT or IISc within the institute's application deadline. COAP is only used to display and manage admission offers.

Q. Which GATE scorecards are valid for COAP registration?

Candidates with a valid GATE score from 2027, 2026, 2025, or 2024 can register for COAP, subject to the validity of their scorecard and the eligibility criteria of the participating institute.

Q. What should I do after registering on COAP?

After completing COAP registration, candidates should apply individually to the participating IITs, IISc, or PSUs they are interested in. Any admission or job offers from these organizations will later be displayed on the COAP portal.

Q. Can I receive offers from more than one IIT during COAP counselling?

Yes. If you have applied to multiple participating institutes and meet their admission criteria, you may receive more than one offer in a counselling round. COAP allows you to compare these offers and choose the most suitable one.
