GATE Registration 2027 Live: IIT Madras is the organising institute for GATE 2027. Candidates can apply online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). GATE Registration 2027 Live from September 2, 2026. The last date to apply without a late fee is September 27, 2026. The extended application window will remain open until October 5, 2026, with a late fee. DigiLocker registration is mandatory for Indian nationals.
GATE 2027 registration link is active from September 2, 2026. Candidates can use the official GOAPS portal to complete the application process.
Candidates need to enter their personal and education details, select their GATE paper and exam cities, upload documents and pay the application fee.
Candidates should use the official GATE website for registration. One email ID can be used for only one application. Candidates who want to appear for two papers do not need to fill two forms. They can select both papers in the same application form.

DigiLocker registration is mandatory for Indian nationals applying for GATE 2027. Candidates should create or update their verified DigiLocker account before starting the GATE application.
Details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, profile picture, address and verified ID card number can be taken from DigiLocker during the application process.
Candidates can follow these steps:
Create or update a verified DigiLocker account.
Visit the GATE 2027 website.
Open the GOAPS application portal.
Select the option to register or apply through DigiLocker.
Log in to DigiLocker and give consent to fetch the details.
Select a verified identity document.
Check that the name and date of birth are correct.
Let DigiLocker fetch the required details.
Enter the remaining personal, education and exam details.
Upload the photograph, signature and other required documents.
Pay the application fee.
Submit the form and keep the application details safe.
General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates do not need to upload documents to the GATE2027 DigiLocker folder.
SC/ST candidates need to upload their category certificate. PwD candidates need to upload the required PwD documents in the prescribed format.
Candidates do not need to upload their 10th, 12th, UG or PG marksheets to the DigiLocker folder for registration.
Candidates studying in the third year or higher of an undergraduate degree can appear for GATE 2027. Candidates who have completed an approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities can also apply.
There is no age limit for GATE 2027. Candidates can also appear for the exam any number of times.
GATE 2027 has introduced some important changes for candidates.
A new Robotics and Automation (RA) test paper has been added to GATE 2027.
There are now 30 test papers. Candidates can choose one paper or up to two papers from the allowed combinations.
Candidates choosing two papers do not have to fill two separate application forms. Both papers must be selected in the same application form and must be from the allowed combinations.
Candidates must select six examination cities from the same zone while filling the application form.
DigiLocker registration is mandatory for Indian nationals applying for GATE 2027. Candidates should have a verified DigiLocker account before completing the application.
The GATE 2027 information also includes changes related to the BT syllabus, TF paper and sectional codes for XE, XH and XL. Candidates should check the official information before selecting their paper.
The GATE 2027 exam will be held on six dates across three weekends:
February 6 and 7, 2027
February 13 and 14, 2027
February 20 and 21, 2027
The city allotment notification is scheduled for January 4, 2027. The GATE 2027 result is scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027.
