Is Same JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Application Number Valid for Session 2 Registration

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two phases, and many students are unsure whether they need to create a new application for Session 2. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that candidates who register for Session 1 can reuse the same application number for Session 2 without needing to re-register. This helps streamline the process and keeps candidate records uniform.

However, candidates who plan to appear only for Session 2 can register later during its dedicated application window. Understanding this process helps aspirants complete their registration correctly and avoid unnecessary confusion during the exam timeline.

NTA’s Official Notice on Using Same Application Number

The NTA notification clearly states: “A separate opportunity will be given to the candidates to apply for Session 2 (April 2026) Examination (using the same Application Number, if applied for Session 1) along with the fee payment option, for which a notification will be issued later.”

This confirms that Session 1 candidates do not need fresh registration. They only need to log in with the same credentials and complete the Session 2 fee payment when the window opens. Candidates applying only for Session 2 can register later once the form is released.
