NTA Released Important Notice For PwD Candidates: The JEE Main Registration 2025 started on October 28, 2024, with the session 1 exam scheduled for January. As the exam dates approach, the NTA has been making continuous announcements about recent changes to the examination process. After launching the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, and updating the JEE Main Exam Pattern 2025 , NTA has now issued an important notice specifically for applicants with disabilities (PwD).

NTA JEE Main 2025 Guidelines for PwD Applicants

• PwD and PwBD applicants will get one extra hour for the JEE Main exam. This means they will have a total of four hours to complete the exam instead of three.
• Applicants who need help can bring a scribe to assist them during the exam. To do this, they must show the right certificates that allow them to use a scribe.
• The term "extra time" is now called "compensatory time." This means that students will get at least 20 minutes of extra time for every hour of the exam when using a scribe.
• All applicants with benchmark disabilities can get an additional hour for the three-hour exam, regardless of whether they use a scribe or not.
• If an exam is shorter than an hour, the extra time will be given in smaller amounts, but it must be at least five minutes.

• Benchmark Disability: To qualify for scribe assistance, applicants must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more.
• Types of Disabilities: The types of disabilities that allow for scribe assistance include:
  • Physical disabilities that make writing difficult
  • Visual impairments that affect writing ability
  • Other specific conditions listed under the RPwD Act
• Certification Requirement: Applicants must provide relevant certificates to prove their eligibility for scribe assistance.
• Additional Support: The scribe will help test takers during the examination to ensure they can effectively communicate their answers.

NTA JEE Main 2025 Application Process for PwD Candidates Opting for Scribe Assistance

• Step 1: Collect Documents: Candidates need to collect medical certificates that show proof of their benchmark disability (40% or more) or a detailed certificate about their writing limitations (for those below the benchmark).
• Step 2: Submit Documents with Application: During the online application process, they are required to upload the necessary documents along with their JEE Main Application Form 2025 .
• Step 3: Choose a Scribe: Applicants can either nominate someone they know as their scribe or request the examination authority (NTA) to provide a scribe.
• Step 4: Meeting the Scribe: If candidates choose to use a scribe provided by the NTA, they will have a meeting two days before the exam. This meeting is important for applicants to ensure the assigned scribe is suitable for their needs, helping to create a comfortable environment for communication during the exam.
