IPMAT (Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak for admission to their five-year integrated management programs.
As of now there is no official limit on the number of attempts for IPMAT. However, candidates must meet the age and educational eligibility criteria set by the respective IIMs.
There is no fixed limit on the number of attempts for the IPMAT exam. As long as a candidate meets the eligibility criteria set by the conducting institutes, they can appear for the exam each year.
Generally, candidates from the General and NC-OBC categories must be under 20 years of age as of July 31 of the exam year while those from SC, ST, and PwD categories have an age relaxation up to 22 years. So, students can attempt IPMAT multiple times within the eligible age bracket.
If you are planning for IPMAT 2026 and passed your Class 12 in 2025 or are appearing in 2026, you are eligible. You can attempt the exam in:
2025 (if in Class 12 that year)
2026 (if you appeared or passed in 2025)
So, you have at least two chances once while in school and another if you decide to take a drop year.
When it comes to the number of attempts for IPMAT there is no fixed limit. However candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria each time they apply.
IPMAT Age Limit
General and NC-OBC category: Must be under 20 years of age as of July 31st of the exam year.
SC, ST, and PwD category: Can be up to 22 years old as of July 31st.
To appear for the IPMAT exam candidates must meet specific educational qualifications. They should have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in the years 2023, 2024 or be appearing in 2025.
For General and NC-OBC category students a minimum of 60% marks in Class 12 is required. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates the required percentage is 55%.
These qualifications must be met at the time of admission, and only those who fulfill this academic requirement are eligible to apply for the exam.
Before you start studying, make sure you know what subjects and topics are included in the IPMAT exam. This helps you plan your preparation better and focus on what matters most.
The questions in IPMAT test your understanding of basic concepts in Mathematics and English. So, take time to clear your fundamentals first.
Try to study every day instead of doing everything at the last moment. Even one or two hours of focused study each day can make a big difference.
Solving questions often will help you become faster and more accurate. This is important because the exam is time-based.
Giving regular mock tests helps you get used to the exam format and shows you your weak areas. You’ll also learn to manage time better during the actual test.
Reading newspapers, short articles, and storybooks can help you understand the English section better. It also builds your vocabulary and improves reading speed.
