The JAIIB Exam is exclusively available to the regular members of the Institute who have completed the 12th standard examination in any field or its equivalent. JAIIB takes place twice a year in the month of May-June and Nov-Dec.

JAIIB Educational Qualification

  • Common candidates do not qualify for the JAIIB exam.
  • JAIIB exam is only for candidates who are already serving as employees in the banking and finance industry.
  • Only the candidates whose employers are members of the Institute fulfill the JAIIB eligibility.
  • The candidates who wish to apply for the post must have passed the 10+2 exam in any discipline or equivalent.
  • The institute may allow candidates to appear for the JAIIB exam even if they have not passed the 12th board exam. However, in such a case, candidates need the recommendation of the bank’s Manager or officer-in-charge.
  • The subordinate staff of recognized Banking or Financial Institutions in India, who are members of the Institute, are eligible to appear at the examination, provided they have passed the 12th standard examination or its equivalent.

JAIIB Age Limit

  • There’s no specific age limit for the JAIIB Examination.
  • To be eligible, you need some prior working experience in the banking or finance sector.
  • You have 4 consecutive attempts to pass the exam within 2 years.
  • If you can’t pass within 2 years, you must start over and won’t get credit for any previously passed subjects.
  • The 2-year time limit starts from the date you apply for your first attempt, regardless of whether you actually take the exam or not.

JAIIB Exam Passing Criteria

  • JAIIB exam is only for candidates who are already serving as employees in the banking and finance industry.
  • The candidate can have 45 marks with an aggregate of 50% in all subjects, provided s/he obtains the marks in one attempt.

JAIIB Exam Work Experience

Candidates seeking to take the JAIIB exam are not required to have a specific amount of work experience. However, they must have engaged in some manner, whether in the past or at present, within the banking or financial industry. This means they should have either worked before, are working currently, or have acquired some degree of work experience in positions related to banking or finance. It is essential to verify this  experience in order to qualify for the examination.

JAIIB Exam Number of Attempts

To qualify the JAIIB exam the candidates are provided with 5 attempts within 3 years. To make it easy to understand we have provided the details of it.
  • The 5 attempts to be taken within 3 years begin on the day of your first registration.
  • Those who pass can keep their credit for subsequent tries in those subjects until they exhaust 5 attempts or surpass the 3-year deadline.
  • Regardless of whether a candidate shows up for the exam/specific paper or not, a submitted application is counted as an attempt.
  • An applicant will need to re-enroll if they use all 5 attempts or 3-year period ends, whichever is earlier. Similarly, a candidate will have to re-enroll if they do not use all 5 attempts by the time the 3 years have passed.
  • Applicants won’t be able to retain credit for subject/s passed, if any, post the 3-year cycle.
  • Applicants will get credits only for passing Principles & Practices of Banking (PPB) and Accounting & Financial Management for Bankers (AFM) under the old syllabus. There will be no credits for Indian Economy & Indian Financial System  (IE & IFS) and Retail Banking & Wealth Management (RBWM) as they’re new additions in the revised syllabus.
