5 Reasons Why Aspirants Fail AIBE Exam

To practice law in Indian courts candidates must qualify the All India Bar Examination and obtain the "Certificate of Practice" from the Bar Council of India.   For the General/OBC category the qualifying cut off is set at 45%, while for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, it is 40%. The performance of the candidates can be affected by several reasons and knowing them prior to the exam, can help the candidates to work on them to eliminate them before the exam. Some of the reasons why candidates fail the AIBE exam include the following.

I. Not Knowing the AIBE Exam Pattern

The AIBE is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam, and many aspirants fail because they don’t understand the exam pattern thoroughly. Without practicing the exam format, candidates may struggle to complete the paper in the given time and make mistakes on questions that require practical application rather than just theoretical recall. To help you prepare for the AIBE 19 exam, here's the AIBE 19 exam pattern.

II. Failure to Understand the AIBE Exam Syllabus and Weightage

Candidates must have a thorough understanding of the AIBE syllabus and the weightage of marks for efficient preparation. The AIBE syllabus is extensive and covers a broad range of legal subjects, but not all topics are weighted equally. Aspirants who do not understand the syllabus might spend disproportionate time on less important topics and overlook high-weightage areas. The AIBE exam syllabus is given below for a better understanding.

Criminal Procedure Code (Cr PC) 10 marks
Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) 10 marks

III. Not Studying with Bare Acts

Bare Acts with no comments/short notes are allowed for the AIBE Exam 2024. Therefore they must know to incorporate those during their preparation. Bare acts contain the precise language and provisions of the law, which is what you will need to refer to during the exam. If you do not study from the bare acts, you may be unfamiliar with specific sections, provisions, and phrases that could be crucial in answering multiple-choice questions correctly. Misinterpretation of a legal provision or the inability to recall the exact wording of a statute can result in incorrect answers. Candidates also become familiar with common sections and phrases used in different laws, which improves their ability to quickly recognize correct answers during the exam.

IV. Insufficient Time Management

Time management is crucial in AIBE Exam 2024 preparation and during the exam itself. Many candidates struggle to balance their preparation time across all subjects, focusing too much on areas they are comfortable with or neglecting subjects they find more challenging. Poor time management during the exam, such as spending too much time on difficult questions or rushing through easier ones, can lead to incomplete attempts or incorrect answers. Focus on higher weightage first to obtain maximum marks in the AIBE exam 2024.

V. Lack of Proper Exam Strategy

A lack of exam strategy is one of the primary reasons why many candidates fail the AIBE (All India Bar Examination). While thorough preparation is essential, it is equally important to have a well-thought-out strategy for both preparation and execution on the day of the exam. Candidates must strategize their preparation based on their strengths and weaknesses, exam pattern, and syllabus for the AIBE exam 2024. Candidates can also include the following aspects while preparing for the AIBE exam 2024.
  • Practice AIBE previous year's papers with Bare Acts without comments.
  • Stay updated with significant judgments.
  • Study case laws.
  • Make concise notes on legal news regarding the new CJI's appointment.
