AIBE 21 Passing Marks 2026: Category-Wise Qualifying Marks, Result and Pass Percentage

The AIBE 21 passing marks 2026 have been revised by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The All India Bar Examination XXI (AIBE 21) was conducted on June 7, 2026, across 292 examination centres in 60 cities. A total of 1,75,701 candidates appeared for the examination.

Initially, the qualifying marks were set at 45 marks for General candidates and 40 marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. However, after reviewing the question paper and result summary, the Monitoring Committee decided to reduce the qualifying marks by 3 marks.

As a result, the revised AIBE 21 passing marks are 42 marks for General candidates and 37 marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

AIBE 21 Passing Marks 2026

The AIBE 21 result was calculated on a 100-mark scale. The qualifying marks were revised after the examination.

Therefore, candidates who scored at least 42 marks in the General category or 37 marks in the SC, ST, and PwD categories qualified for AIBE 21, subject to the applicable result conditions.

Why Were AIBE 21 Passing Marks Reduced?

The BCI had initially fixed the qualifying marks at 45 for General candidates and 40 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

However, after examining the question paper and result summary, the Monitoring Committee unanimously decided to moderate the result. Three marks therefore deducted from the qualifying marks.

This brought the final qualifying marks to:

• 42 marks for General candidates

• 37 marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates

The reduction was made as part of the result moderation process.

The AIBE XXI result recorded an overall pass percentage of 65.92%.

Out of 1,75,701 candidates who appeared for the examination:

• 1,15,805 candidates qualified

• 59,876 candidates did not qualify

• 20 candidates had malpractice cases pending a decision

The examination saw participation from candidates across different categories and genders.

AIBE 21 Category-Wise Result

The category-wise result shows the number of candidates who qualified after the revised qualifying criteria were applied.

The category-wise figures include candidates with PwD status in the relevant qualifying category.

AIBE 21 Gender-Wise Result

The AIBE 21 result also recorded participation across three gender categories.

There were 20 malpractice cases for which decisions were pending.

AIBE 21 Cut Off vs Passing Marks

Candidates often use the terms AIBE cutoff and passing marks interchangeably, but they refer to the qualifying requirement in this context.

For AIBE 21, the BCI initially announced qualifying marks of:

• 45% for General candidates

• 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates

After moderation, the qualifying requirement was reduced by three marks. Therefore, the final AIBE 21 passing marks 2026 became:

• 42/100 for General candidates

• 37/100 for SC/ST/PwD candidates

There was no separate competitive cutoff based on ranking. Candidates needed to meet the applicable qualifying requirement to pass the examination.

AIBE 21 Passing Percentage

The overall AIBE 21 pass percentage was 65.92%.

A total of 1,15,805 candidates qualified out of the 1,75,701 candidates who appeared for the examination.

The result indicates that nearly two-thirds of the candidates who appeared were able to meet the qualifying requirements after the moderation of marks.

What Happens After Passing AIBE 21?

Candidates who qualify for the AIBE can proceed with the applicable process for obtaining the Certificate of Practice (CoP), subject to the rules and procedures prescribed by the Bar Council of India.

The AIBE is conducted to assess whether candidates possess the basic legal knowledge required for entering legal practice in India. Candidates should follow the BCI's instructions regarding the Certificate of Practice and other post-result formalities.
