Assam Judiciary Notification 2025 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Assam Judiciary 2025, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Law Degree from a recognized university in India.

  • Age Limit (as of the last date of application):

    • General/OBC: Maximum 38 years

    • SC/ST: Maximum 43 years

    • PwBD: Age relaxation as per rules

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India under Articles 5 & 6 of the Constitution of India.

Assam Judiciary 2025 Selection Process

The Assam Judiciary Selection Process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination, and Viva Voce (Interview). Below are the detailed selection criteria as per the Assam Judiciary Notification 2025:

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type test carrying 100 marks. Candidates securing 60% or more marks in this test will qualify for the Main Written Examination.

  • The shortlisting ratio for the Main Examination is 1:10 (i.e., for every vacancy, 10 candidates will be called for the Mains).

2. Main Written Examination

The Main Examination consists of five descriptive papers totalling 450 marks.

  • To qualify for the Viva Voce, candidates must secure:

    • 60% aggregate marks in the Main Examination, with

    • At least 45% marks in individual Papers I, II, III, and IV, and

    • At least 35% marks in Paper-V (Assamese Language Paper) (qualifying in nature).

  • For SC/ST candidates, the required aggregate marks in the Main Examination is 50%, with

    • At least 40% marks in individual Papers I, II, III, and IV, and

    • At least 35% marks in Paper-V (Assamese Language Paper) (qualifying in nature).

3. Viva Voce (Interview) – 50 Marks

Candidates who qualify for the Viva Voce will be called in a ratio of 1:3 (i.e., for every vacancy, three candidates will be called).

  • Candidates must score at least 60% marks in the interview to be considered for selection.

  • The final selection is based on the aggregate marks secured in the Main Written Examination and the Viva Voce.

  • The marks secured in the Assamese Language Paper will not be counted in the final merit list, as it is only qualifying in nature.

  • English

  • Indian Constitution, CPC, CrPC, BNSS, Contract Act, IPC, BNS, Evidence Act, BSA, Law of Torts

  • Official Language Proficiency (Assamese) – 10 Marks (qualifying in nature)

2. Main Written Examination (Descriptive, 450 Marks)

  • Paper-I (English): Essay Writing, Precis Writing, Grammar – 100 Marks

  • Paper-II (General Knowledge & Aptitude): 100 Marks
