To be eligible for Assam Judiciary 2025, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
Educational Qualification: A Law Degree from a recognized university in India.
Age Limit (as of the last date of application):
General/OBC: Maximum 38 years
SC/ST: Maximum 43 years
PwBD: Age relaxation as per rules
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India under Articles 5 & 6 of the Constitution of India.
The Assam Judiciary Selection Process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination, and Viva Voce (Interview). Below are the detailed selection criteria as per the Assam Judiciary Notification 2025:
The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type test carrying 100 marks. Candidates securing 60% or more marks in this test will qualify for the Main Written Examination.
The shortlisting ratio for the Main Examination is 1:10 (i.e., for every vacancy, 10 candidates will be called for the Mains).
The Main Examination consists of five descriptive papers totalling 450 marks.
To qualify for the Viva Voce, candidates must secure:
60% aggregate marks in the Main Examination, with
At least 45% marks in individual Papers I, II, III, and IV, and
At least 35% marks in Paper-V (Assamese Language Paper) (qualifying in nature).
For SC/ST candidates, the required aggregate marks in the Main Examination is 50%, with
At least 40% marks in individual Papers I, II, III, and IV, and
At least 35% marks in Paper-V (Assamese Language Paper) (qualifying in nature).
Candidates who qualify for the Viva Voce will be called in a ratio of 1:3 (i.e., for every vacancy, three candidates will be called).
Candidates must score at least 60% marks in the interview to be considered for selection.
The final selection is based on the aggregate marks secured in the Main Written Examination and the Viva Voce.
The marks secured in the Assamese Language Paper will not be counted in the final merit list, as it is only qualifying in nature.
