In the Preliminary Exam for Karnataka Civil Judge, questions are asked from important laws like the Code of Civil Procedure, Negotiable Instruments Act, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Specific Relief Act, Indian Constitution, Karnataka Rent Act, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code, and Indian Evidence Act.

After successfully passing the Karnataka Judiciary mains exam, candidates move on to the Interview round, which is valued at 100 marks. In this stage, candidates are evaluated on their General Knowledge, understanding of legal principles, and overall suitability for the role of Civil Judge. Those who clear the viva-voce are then eligible to proceed to the final stage of the selection process, the Computer Test.
The Computer Test is the last step in the Karnataka Judicial Services selection and carries 25 marks. This test assesses candidates' computer skills and their suitability for the position. However, the marks obtained here are considered separately and are not added to the total scores of the mains exam or viva-voce.
