CAT 2023 Exam Day Guidelines: IIM Lucknow will administer the CAT 2023 exam on 26 November 2023. To participate in the exam, candidates must download their CAT admit card from iimcat.ac.in before the specified exam time. Carrying the printed CAT admit card is essential to enter the exam centre.

The CAT exam will be conducted in three shifts (morning, afternoon, and evening), each lasting for 2 hours. It is advisable for students to arrive early at the exam centre to avoid any last-minute complications.

CAT 2023 Exam Day Timing

Candidates must arrive at the designated CAT 2023 centre before the specified exam schedule time. The gates will close 15 minutes before the CAT exam commencement timing. Candidates who reach the exam centre late won’t be allowed to sit for the CAT exam 2023. Therefore, it is essential to reach the exam centre early.

Here are the crucial CAT exam day guidelines candidates must follow to conveniently appear for the exam:
  • Candidates must understand the route to their designated exam centre at least a day before the CAT 2023 exam date. Additionally, they must arrange transportation to ensure timely arrival on the exam day.
  • It is recommended that all the candidates, irrespective of their category, should arrive at the examination centre nearly 1.5 hours before the scheduled start time.
  • Candidates must adhere to the identification process and present the necessary documents for entry to the test centre.
  • After identification, candidates should check their exam hall number/direction and proceed accordingly.
  • Once inside the CAT exam hall, candidates should locate their seats and remain seated until the test begins.
  • Candidates must abide by the instructions provided by the invigilator.
  • For any rough work, candidates must use their separate writing pad and pen provided by the invigilator. Additionally, they should write their name and CAT application number on the writing pad.
  • Before leaving the exam, candidates must remember to submit their writing pad and pen.
  • Electronic items such as mobile phones, watches, electronic gadgets, calculators, etc., are not allowed inside the exam hall. Additionally, stationery, wallets, goggles, bags, etc., are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
  • Footwear with heavy soles and garments with large buttons are not allowed inside the CAT exam centre.
  • Candidates wearing any type of jewellery or clothing with metallic trims can get entry to the exam centre.
  • Once candidates acquire their seats, they can not leave the examination hall and test centre until the exam concludes.

Candidates are required to bring a printed copy of their admit card to the designated exam centre. Candidates must remember to attach a passport-size photo to their CAT admit card. Besides the admit card, candidates must carry a photo identity proof. Any of the following documents can be used as a valid proof of identity:

  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Driving Licence
  • Employer ID

Candidates must follow the CAT 2023 dress code guidelines to avoid lengthy security check processes. Here are the notable CAT 2023 exam day guidelines for dress code:

Clothing for Male Female Candidates

Candidates are advised to wear simple clothing such as a kurta, shirt, T-shirt, leggings, jeans, etc. One must avoid clothes with multiple layers or pockets. Wearing jackets or shawls is also prohibited inside the CAT exam centre. In addition, candidates should refrain from wearing fancy jewellery, including necklaces, earrings, bracelets, or rings. Candidates wearing such items can only enter the examination hall after removing them.

Restrictions on Footwear and Accessories

Candidates must opt for simple shoes or slippers. Wearing heavy shoes with thick soles is prohibited inside the CAT exam hall. Additionally, candidates must ensure their footwear or dresses don’t have any metallic trims or accessories.
