To be eligible for CAT 2025, candidates must hold an undergraduate degree with a minimum grade point average of 50% (45% for reserved categories).

Changes in CAT Exam Pattern Over The Years

The CAT exam pattern 2025 has changed several times over the years. Ten years ago, Data Interpretation (DI) was combined with Quantitative Ability (QA). Later, DI was combined with Logical Reasoning (LR) and QA became its own section. Until 2019, the CAT was a 3-hour exam held in 2 shifts.

CAT Marking Scheme 2025

The CAT exam has negative marking, which means you will lose marks for each wrong answer. So, it’s important to answer questions carefully to get better scores. Here are the key points about the CAT marking scheme 2025:
  • The total marks for CAT 2025 will be 198.
  • Each question is worth 3 marks.

Important Points About CAT Test Process 2025

Students for the CAT 2025 exam:
  • You will be allowed to use an onscreen calculator for calculations.
  • An onscreen clock will help you keep track of time.
  • The screen will automatically move to the next section after 40 minutes. Once you move to the next section, you cannot go back.
  • Instructions on how to save answers and other details will be provided on the first page of the test. Be sure to read these instructions carefully.
  • To get familiar with the online test process, take the official CAT mock test and review the official test guide.
  • You will be given sheets of paper for rough work, which must be submitted before leaving the exam hall.
  • You cannot start the test before the scheduled time; you can only log in after the invigilator’s announcement.
  • Sit in your assigned seat throughout the exam. If you are found sitting elsewhere, you will be disqualified.
  • Aim to complete each section 5-10 minutes early so you have time to review any questions you saved for later.
