The syllabus for NMAT 2023 will be released by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) along with other exam details. Candidates can find the syllabus for NMAT 2023 on the official website. Alternatively, the NMAT syllabus 2023 is also available here. The NMAT syllabus covers topics from three main sections -

  • Language Skills,
  • Quantitative Skills,
  • Logical Reasoning.

NMAT Language Skills Syllabus 2023

The Language Skills section of the NMAT exam syllabus covers
  • Vocabulary,
  • Grammar,
  • para jumbles,
  • Reading comprehension (RC) passages.
Based on the previous year's paper analysis, approximately 50% of the questions in this section are based on RC passages.
  • The Language Skills section comprises 36 questions of moderate difficulty, and the time allotted for this section is 28 minutes.
  • Incorrect answers do not result in negative markings.
  • The Verbal Ability questions in the NMAT syllabus 2023will be based on topics such as antonyms, synonyms, error detection, grammar usage, para jumbles, and fill-in-the-blanks.
  • Candidates can expect 3-4 RC passages with 3-4 questions each in the NMAT 2022 exam.
  • The questions in the reading comprehension will be based on inferences drawn, the passage's tone, viewpoints, and facts and figures mentioned in the passage.

NMAT Logical Reasoning Syllabus 2023

The Logical Reasoning (LR) section of the NMAT exam syllabus is designed to evaluate a candidate's general intelligence quotient, decision-making ability, and logical reasoning skills. This section is considered highly scoring, and candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for it based on the latest NMAT paper pattern and syllabus.
  • The section comprises 36 questions of moderate difficulty, and the time allotted has been increased from 38 to 40 minutes.
  • Wrong responses do not result in negative markings.
  • Last year's analysis revealed an equal number of questions from the Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning parts of the NMAT syllabus.
  • However, there is no fixed pattern regarding the questions asked, so candidates must prepare well for the verbal and non-verbal reasoning syllabus.
  • Candidates must rely solely on the information in the questions and refrain from using additional general knowledge or assuming any other information, as this may lead to incorrect answers.
  • The section focuses on deriving inferences and conclusions based solely on the facts and statements in the questions, irrespective of their validity in real life.

NMAT Quantitative Skills Syllabus 2023

The syllabus for the Quantitative Skills section of the NMAT exam aims to assess a candidate's mathematical abilities and numerical proficiency.
  • It covers arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and mensuration topics and includes questions that test a candidate's data interpretation and sufficiency skills.
  • Candidates need to note that around 10-12 questions in the NMAT exam are related to Data Interpretation (DI) and Data Sufficiency.
