NTA has announced the NEET UG 2025 notification. This year, the exam has undergone several changes. The changes include updates in photo size, exam pattern, tie-breaking criteria, exam centre selection, and APAAR ID requirements. All these changes have been mentioned in the official NEET 2025 information bulletin, and students should carefully read the bulletin before filling out the form.
The application process started on February 7 and will close on March 7, 2025. NEET UG 2025 will be held on May 4, 2025. The information bulletin is available on the official website.
Candidates are required to select three cities as their exam centres in NEET application form, which must be within the state of their permanent or present address. The NEET exam 2025 will be conducted from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Entry to the exam centre will close at 1:30 pm. Candidates should report at least three hours before the exam begins.
Candidates must upload a passport-size photo in NEET application form taken after January 1, 2025. The photograph should not be older than three months (not before January 1, 2025) and should preferably indicate the candidate’s name and the date of taking the photograph.
In the NEET 2025 tie-breaking criteria, if two or more candidates have the same marks, NTA will follow specific rules to determine the rank. Preference will be given to the candidate with a higher score in Biology. If the tie still exists, the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry will be ranked higher. If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks in Physics will be given priority. If candidates still have the same score, those with fewer mistakes across all sections will be ranked higher. Further tie-breaking will be based on fewer wrong answers in Biology, followed by Chemistry, and then Physics. If the tie remains unresolved, an expert committee will conduct a random selection process to finalize the ranking.
NEET UG 2025 will follow the pre-Covid format. There will be no optional questions in Section B. Candidates must attempt all 180 questions. Previously, candidates had 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete the exam, but now the time has been reduced to 180 minutes. There will be 45 questions in Physics, 45 in Chemistry, and 90 in Biology.
Recently, the National Testing Agency introduced the APAAR ID as part of the 2025 registration process. NTA has stated that while the APAAR ID can be beneficial, it is not a mandatory requirement for registration.
NEET UG 2025 scores will be used for admission in MBBS, BDS, BVSc & AH, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS courses. Military Nursing Service aspirants applying for BSc Nursing in Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals must qualify NEET UG for selection.
