Formula for Calculating NEET Percentile

To find your NEET Percentile, you can use a very simple formula. The percentile tells you how well you did compared to other students who gave the exam. The formula is shared by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Calculate NEET Percentile Based on Marks

In this method, you need two things - Your NEET marks and Topper’s NEET marks (highest marks)

  • Formula: (Your Marks ÷ Topper’s Marks) × 100
  • Example: If you got 600 marks and the topper got 720 marks, then:
  • Percentile = (600 ÷ 720) × 100 = 83.33%

So, your NEET percentile will be 83.33 if this method is used.

Calculate NEET Percentile Based on Rank

In this method, you need - Your NEET rank and Total number of students who gave the exam

  • Formula: [(Total Students – Your Rank) ÷ Total Students] × 100
  • Example: If your NEET rank is 50,000 and total students are 10,00,000, then:
  • Percentile = [(10,00,000 – 50,000) ÷ 10,00,000] × 100 = 95%

This means you scored better than 95% of the students.

Steps to Calculate NEET Percentile 2026

Here are simple steps to calculate your NEET 2026 percentile:

Step 1: Wait for NTA to tell the total number of students who gave the exam.

Step 2: Use the PhysicsWallah NEET answer key to check how many correct answers you gave.

Step 3: Calculate your total NEET marks using the correct answer key.

Step 4: Use one of the two formulas (based on marks or rank) to find your estimated percentile.

Note: This percentile is only an estimate. The final and official percentile will be given by NTA in the NEET 2026 result.

NEET Marks Vs NEET Percentile

Understanding how NEET marks and NEET percentile work can help students know how well they did in the exam. Even though they sound similar, they are not the same.

NEET Marks

NEET marks are the actual score a student gets in the exam. The NEET paper has 180 questions, and each correct answer gives 4 marks. If you give a wrong answer, 1 mark is cut. The highest marks you can get in NEET is 720. The total you get after adding right answers and cutting marks for wrong ones is called your NEET marks. If you get more marks, you have a better chance of getting into a good medical college. You can also use your NEET marks to check which college you might get using tools like college predictor apps.

NEET Percentile

The NEET percentile shows how your score compares to other students who gave the exam. It tells what percent of students scored less than you. This helps in knowing your rank among all candidates. The NEET percentile is very important because colleges use it to give seats in medical courses. If your percentile is high, you have better chances to get admission.
