Doesn't Need Energy: Unlike some other processes that cells use to move substances around, simple diffusion doesn’t need energy. It happens thanks to the natural movement of particles. High to Low Concentration: Particles move from where they are crowded (high concentration) to where they have more space (low concentration). Reaching Equilibrium: The end goal is for these particles to spread out evenly everywhere, which is called equilibrium. This kind of diffusion is like when you smell cooking from the kitchen in another room. The smell travels from a high concentration (the kitchen) to a low concentration (your room) without any help, just moving through the air until it's all spread out and you can smell it everywhere.
