Work Energy and Power Important Questions for NEET

Work Energy and Power Important Questions for NEET: Work, Energy, and Power are essential topics in physics for the NEET exam. These concepts help in understanding the basic principles of mechanics and motion. Many numerical and theoretical questions in the NEET exam are derived from these topics. A strong grasp of Work, Energy, and Power can significantly improve problem-solving skills and boost scores in the exam.

Work Energy and Power Important Questions for NEET Overview

Work, Energy, and Power are fundamental concepts in physics and are used extensively in real-life applications. Work is done when a force is applied to an object, and it moves in the direction of the force. Energy is the capacity to do work, and it comes in different forms such as kinetic energy and potential energy. Power is the rate at which work is done and is measured in watts. These concepts play a crucial role in understanding mechanics and are frequently tested in NEET exams.

What are Work Energy and Power?

Work is the product of force and displacement. When a force is applied to an object, and it moves in the direction of the force, work is said to be done. The amount of work done depends on the magnitude of the force and the distance moved by the object.

Energy is the ability to do work. It is classified into kinetic energy (energy due to motion) and potential energy (energy stored due to position). The total energy of a system remains conserved, as stated in the law of conservation of energy.

Power is the rate at which work is done. It is given by the formula Power = Work/Time and is measured in watts (W). Power determines how quickly work is done and is an essential factor in physics and engineering applications.

Practice Important Questions of Work Energy and Power for NEET

Q1 A constant force of (3i + 4j) newton acts on a particle of mass 2 kg. The particle is displaced from position (2i + k) meter to position (4i + 3j - k) meter. The work done by the force on the particle is

  1. 6 J
  2. 13 J
  3. 15 J
  4. 9 J

Q2 A force F = (3x² + 2x - 7) N acts on a 2 kg body as a result of which the body gets displaced from x = 0 to x = 5 m. The work done by the force will be—

  1. 35 J
  2. 70 J
  3. 115 J
  4. 270 J

Q3 A force F acting on the object varies with distance x as shown here. The force is in N and x in m. The work done by the force in moving the object from x = 0 to x = 6 m is:

  1. 18.0 J
  2. 13.5 J
  3.  9.0 J
  4. 4.5 J

Q4 Which of the following statement(s) is/are correct?
Statement I: Work done by kinetic friction in a closed path is not zero.
Statement II: Kinetic frictional force is a non-conservative force.

  1. Both I and II
  2. Only I
  3. Only II
  4. Neither I nor II

  1. 30°
  2. 60°
  3. 90°

Q6 A body of mass m kg is lifted by a man to a height of one metre in 30 sec. Another man lifts the same mass to the same height in 60 sec. The work done by them are in the ratio

  1. 1 : 2
  2. 1 : 1
  3. 2 : 1
  4. 4 : 1

Q7 If we throw a body upwards with velocity of 4 m/s, at what height does its kinetic energy reduce to half of the initial value? (Take g = 10 m/s²)

  1. 4 m
  2. 2 m
  3. 1 m
  4. 0.4 m

Q8 The kinetic energy of a light body and a heavy body is same. Which one of the following statements is CORRECT?
