The University of Calcutta (CU) has revised its Admission and Examination Regulations for four-year undergraduate programmes under the Curriculum and Credit Framework (CCF), 2022. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the notification was issued on October 9, 2026. The new provisions cover Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programmes. The revised rules take effect starting from the odd semester examinations in 2026.
Undergraduate Board of Studies (UGBOS) approved the revised marks distribution across theory and practical papers. Continuous assessment comprises internal assessment and attendance. Backlog candidates will appear for internal assessment at their respective colleges, with attendance marks calculated from their regular tenure in that semester.
| Paper Type | Semester-End Exam | Continuous Assessment | Practical / Tutorial |
|---|---|---|---|
| 75-Mark Theory (Major, Minor, SEC) | 50 Marks | 25 Marks (20 Internal + 5 Attendance) | 25 Marks |
| 100-Mark Theory (Semesters 7 & 8) | 75 Marks | 25 Marks | - |
| Practical Papers | 60 Marks | 40 Marks | - |
Continuous assessment awards up to 5 marks based on classroom attendance slabs. To earn credits in any paper, students must secure a minimum of 30% marks overall and at least 30% separately in the semester-end theory and practical or tutorial examinations.
