GATE 2026 FAQs

Is the GATE 2026 Admit Card required to be in color?

While a black-and-white printout is technically accepted, IIT Guwahati highly recommends a high-quality color printout on A4-sized paper. This ensures that your photograph and signature are clearly legible for biometric verification.

What is the gate closing time for GATE 2026?

For the Forenoon session, the gates typically close at 9:30 AM, and for the Afternoon session, at 2:30 PM. Candidates are strictly advised to reach the center 90 minutes early (by 8:00 AM or 1:00 PM) for security frisking and biometric data collection.

Can I enter the exam hall late?

Late entry is permitted only up to 30 minutes after the exam starts (until 10:00 AM or 3:00 PM) under exceptional circumstances. However, no extra time will be provided, and the login window will be disabled exactly 30 minutes post-commencement.
