GATE 2027 DigiLocker Rule Changed - Unverified Accounts Accepted for Registration

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), which is organising GATE 2027, has updated its DigiLocker registration guidelines. Candidates can now submit their GATE 2027 application through an unverified DigiLocker account, with additional document verification applicable.

Previously, the GATE 2027 website stated that Indian nationals were required to register through DigiLocker and recommended creating or updating a verified DigiLocker account before applying.

GATE 2027 Registration With Unverified DigiLocker

Candidates using an unverified DigiLocker account can proceed with the application by selecting the default ID proof available during the registration process. However, these applications will undergo scrutiny after the registration deadline.

The updated guidelines state that:

• Candidates can register using an unverified DigiLocker account.

• They can select the default ID proof while filling the application.

• Applications will be scrutinised after the registration deadline.

• Candidates will have to present their original documents for verification at the examination hall.

• IIT Madras recommends using a verified DigiLocker account for a smoother experience at the examination venue.

GATE 2027 DigiLocker Update: No Academic Marksheets Required

As per the GATE 2027 FAQ, candidates are not required to upload their Class 10, Class 12, undergraduate, or postgraduate marksheets to DigiLocker while completing the GATE 2027 registration process.

Candidates applying with an unverified DigiLocker account should note that their documents will require additional verification at the examination hall. Applicants should carry the required original documents for verification during the GATE 2027 exam.
