GATE 2027 Latest Update

IIT Madras has extended the last date to apply for GATE 2027 without a late fee and late fee. Candidates can now submit their GATE 2027 application form till October 5, 2026 (without late fee) and October 12, 2026 (with late fee). The registration can be completed through the official GATE 2027 website.

GATE 2027 Important Dates

IIT Madras has announced the GATE 2027 schedule through the official Information Brochure. The GATE 2027 registration process through GOAPS started on 2 September 2026. Candidates can submit the regular application without a late fee until 27 September 2026, while the extended application window with a late fee closes on 5 October 2026. The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21 February 2027.

What's New in GATE 2027?

The GATE 2027 notification introduces several important changes:

• Textile Engineering & Fibre Science shifted to XE9 under Engineering Sciences.

GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates satisfying any of the following conditions can apply:

• Students studying in the 3rd year or above of Bachelor's degree programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
• Candidates who have already completed any approved undergraduate degree.
• MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc., Agriculture, Forestry, and Horticulture students studying in the prescribed semesters.
• Candidates pursuing or completing Master's degrees.
• Professional society qualifications approved by AICTE/UGC/MoE are also eligible.

Candidates should check the eligibility criteria for their qualifying degree and year of study before applying for GATE 2027. Candidates currently studying in the third year or higher of an eligible undergraduate programme, as well as candidates who have completed an approved degree, can appear for the examination subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Eligible candidates can complete the GATE 2027 application form online by registering through GOAPS, entering the required details, uploading the necessary information and completing the fee payment. Regular registration without a late fee is open until 27 September 2026, while the extended registration window with a late fee closes on 5 October 2026.

1. Register on GOAPS.
2. Complete the mandatory DigiLocker-based registration process.
3. Fill personal and academic details.
4. Upload photograph, signature, valid photo ID, and required certificates.
5. Provide live facial verification.
6. Pay the application fee.
7. Submit and download the confirmation page.

Applications will be accepted only in online mode.

GATE 2027 Exam Pattern

The GATE 2027 Exam will be conducted by IIT Madras in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The examination consists of 65 questions carrying a total of 100 marks and has a duration of 3 hours. The question paper includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. While negative marking applies only to MCQs, there is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT questions. Every paper also includes a General Aptitude (GA) section worth 15 marks, while the remaining 85 marks are from the chosen subject.

PW GATE 2027 Online Courses

GATE 2027 Admit Card

IIT Madras will release the GATE 2027 Admit Card on its official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. With the activation of the hall ticket link, candidates will be allowed to access it by providing the login credentials.

Candidates are required to bring the admit card along with ID proof documents (Aadhar Card/PAN Card/Driving License/Passport) and photographs to the allotted test centre. Candidates will not be allowed to take the examination if they fail to produce the admit card.

GATE 2027 Answer Key

Following the completion of the examination, the conducting authority will release the GATE 2027 Answer Key online. The answer key will help aspirants to review their performance and estimate the probable marks. The conducting institute also provides facility to raise objections against provisional answer key if candidates found any discrepancies. 

Candidates need to insert their enrollment ID and password to download the answer key and raise objections via GOAPS Portal. The objection window will remain open for a certain period and candidates need to pay the online fee of INR 500 per question to challenge the response sheet. Candidates are advised to download their answer key and keep it safe for future records.

GATE 2027 Result

IIT Madras will declare the GATE 2027 Result on 19 March 2027 on the official portal, gate.iitm.ac.in. With the release of the results, candidates will be able to access it by entering the login credentials. Alongside the results, the authorities will also announce the GATE 2027 Cut Off for all papers. 

The GATE Result 2027 will contain the raw marks obtained by candidates along with normalized marks and All India Rank. Those who clear the exam will be eligible to participate in the counselling rounds and PSU recruitments.

GATE 2027 Scorecard

The GATE 2027 Scorecard will be made public on the official portal, goaps.iitm.ac.in. The scorecard will be issued only for those who meet the qualifying marks in the respective paper. The GATE Scorecard 2027 will remain valid for three years for admission purposes while it will remain valid for a year to obtain PSU jobs.
