The status of the NEET PG Answer Key 2026 has changed after the declaration of the result.
Earlier, candidates were waiting for the provisional answer key and response sheet before the NEET PG result. However, NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24, 2026, without the question-wise answer key being available at that stage.
The latest information from the result-related notification states that candidates will be able to access their question IDs, correct answer IDs, recorded response IDs and marks for individual questions on or after October 1, 2026.
This makes the upcoming release particularly relevant for candidates who want to review their individual performance after checking the result and rank.
The NEET PG 2026 answer key will be available on or after October 1, 2026. The answer-key information will be provided through the NBEMS system, with candidate-specific response details available through individual login.
Candidates should note that October 1 is the earliest date specified by NBEMS, rather than a guarantee that the answer key will become available at a particular time on that day.
| Event | Date/Status |
| NEET PG 2026 Exam | August 30, 2026 |
| NEET PG Re-examination | September 5, 2026 |
| NEET PG Result 2026 | September 24, 2026 |
| NEET PG Answer Key and Response Details | On or after October 1, 2026 |
| NEET PG Individual Scorecard | On or after October 1, 2026 |
The September 5 re-examination was conducted for candidates affected by the disruption at two examination centres in Jaipur.
The upcoming release is more detailed than simply providing a list of correct answers.
According to the information reported from the NBEMS result notice, candidates will be able to access:
Question ID numbers
Correct answer key IDs
Candidate response IDs
Marks awarded for individual questions
These details will allow candidates to compare their recorded responses with the corresponding answers and understand how their individual marks were calculated.
The question-wise information will therefore be particularly useful for candidates who want to review their performance after the result declaration.
The NEET PG Result 2026 was declared by NBEMS on September 24. Candidates can check their overall marks and All India Rank through the result released on the official NBEMS website.
A total of 265,959 candidates appeared for the NEET PG 2026 examination, according to the result data reported after the declaration. The highest score was 641 marks out of 720.
The result means candidates no longer need to wait for the answer key to know their overall result. The October 1 release will instead provide the detailed question-wise performance information and individual scorecard.
NBEMS has also announced the qualifying cutoff along with the NEET PG 2026 result.
| Category | Qualifying Percentile | Cutoff Marks |
| General/EWS | 50th percentile | 262 |
| General PwBD | 45th percentile | 244 |
| SC/ST/OBC, including PwBD | 40th percentile | 226 |
These are qualifying cutoffs, not college-specific admission closing ranks. The rank required for admission to a particular MD, MS, DNB or other postgraduate course can vary by college, course, counselling round, category and seat type.
The NEET PG 2026 individual scorecard will be available for download on or after October 1, 2026.
Candidates will be able to access their scorecard through the NBEMS candidate login. The scorecard contains candidate-specific examination information and should be preserved for the admission and counselling process.
NBEMS has stated that individual scorecards will remain available for six months from the date of issuance. Candidates should therefore download and safely preserve their scorecard after it becomes available.
Once the answer-key facility is activated, candidates should use the official NBEMS portal and their registered login credentials.
The expected process is:
Visit the official NBEMS website.
Open the NEET PG 2026 section.
Select the answer key or candidate response link.
Log in using the required credentials.
Open the question-wise response information.
Check the question IDs and correct answer IDs.
Compare the recorded responses with the correct answers.
Download or save the available details for future reference.
Candidates should access the answer key only through the official NBEMS website and should avoid entering their login credentials on third-party websites.
The answer key and candidate response information serve different purposes.
The answer key identifies the answer associated with each question, while the response information shows the answer recorded for the individual candidate. NBEMS is expected to provide the question ID, correct answer ID and candidate response ID along with the marks awarded for individual questions.
Candidates can therefore use the two sets of information together to understand their question-wise performance.
Candidates can use the question-wise information to review their responses and marks. However, the marks already reported by NBEMS in the result should be treated as the official result for the examination.
The earlier PW coverage explained the NEET PG marking framework of 4 marks for a correct answer, 1 mark deducted for an incorrect answer and no marks for an unattempted question. Candidates can refer to that calculation framework while reviewing their responses.
The upcoming answer-key release is therefore more useful for question-wise verification and performance review than for waiting to calculate a result that has already been declared.
The October 1 update comes at a different stage of the admission process than originally anticipated.
Earlier, candidates were waiting for the answer key to estimate their scores before the result. PW had previously covered the expected answer-key release, response-sheet process and score calculation while the result was still awaited.
Now that NBEMS has already declared the result, the key questions for candidates are:
What answers were recorded against each question? What correct answer ID did NBEMS use? How many marks were awarded for each question? When can the individual scorecard be downloaded?
The October 1 release is expected to address these question-wise details.
Candidates who have checked their result should keep track of the individual scorecard and answer-key release from October 1.
The next admission stage will involve postgraduate medical counselling. The final admission process will depend on the applicable counselling authority, eligibility conditions, category, rank, preferences and seat availability.
Candidates should distinguish between the NEET PG qualifying cutoff announced by NBEMS and the college or course-specific closing rank that emerges during counselling. The two should not be treated as the same figure.
