Bihar Board Exam 2027: BSEB Class 10 & 12 Special Registration Reopens till July 22; Check Full Fee Matrix & Mandatory Guidelines

MCC has not notified the official NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule as of this morning. Every date below is written as expected/tentative. Fee and deposit figures are carried from the previous year's MCC information bulletin and must be reconfirmed against the 2026 bulletin the day it drops. Do not harden any of this into a confirmed date until mcc.nic.in publishes the notice.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling: The Stray Vacancy Round Penalty Every Candidate Must Know

The Stray Vacancy Round carries the harshest penalty in the entire MCC process. A candidate allotted a seat in this round who then fails to report to the college forfeits the security deposit and is debarred from appearing in NEET UG the following year. No fresh registration is permitted in the Stray Round — only candidates already registered and unallotted in earlier rounds are eligible. Candidates should treat a Stray Round choice as a binding commitment, not an experiment.

NEET 2026 Rank vs College: Which MBBS College Can You Expect?

Now that the Re-NEET UG 2026 result is out, the question shifting to the top of every search is rank vs college. Your All India Rank — not your raw score — decides your realistic options in AIQ and State Quota counselling. Previous years' closing ranks are the only usable benchmark until MCC publishes the 2026 seat matrix and Round 1 allotment data. Use last year's closing ranks as a directional guide, not a guarantee.

AYUSH Counselling 2026: AACCC Registration for BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and BSMS

AYUSH admissions do not run through MCC. The AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) conducts counselling for the All India Quota in BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and BSMS seats on its own portal and its own calendar, which typically opens after MCC's UG rounds are underway. Candidates targeting AYUSH courses must register separately with AACCC — an MCC registration does not carry over.

AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS Admission 2026 Through MCC Counselling

AIIMS and JIPMER seats are allotted through MCC counselling, not through a separate entrance test. Candidates seeking admission to AIIMS New Delhi, the newer AIIMS institutions, or JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal must register on mcc.nic.in and include these institutes in their choice list. Seats at Institutes of National Importance sit outside the standard 1,36,939 MBBS seat count, which is why they are listed separately in the seat matrix.

State NEET Counselling 2026: Domicile Rules and the 85% Quota

While MCC handles 15% All India Quota seats, the remaining 85% of government medical college seats are allotted by individual state counselling authorities. Each state runs its own portal, its own registration window, and its own domicile criteria — and these windows frequently overlap with MCC rounds. Candidates are advised to register for both AIQ and their home-state counselling to keep the maximum number of options open.

Deemed University Counselling 2026: Registration Fee and Security Deposit

Deemed and central university seats are allotted by MCC on the same portal, but the fee structure is entirely different from AIQ. As per the previous year's information bulletin, the deemed/central registration fee was ₹5,000 with a refundable security deposit of ₹2,00,000, against ₹1,000 and ₹10,000 respectively for AIQ. Candidates should confirm the exact 2026 figures from the MCC information bulletin once it is uploaded.

NEET Counselling 2026: Free Exit vs Resignation — Know the Difference

One of the least understood parts of MCC counselling is the exit rule, and it is where candidates lose money and eligibility every year. Free exit is permitted only in specific rounds; resigning a seat outside the permitted window can mean forfeiture of the security deposit and, in the case of the Stray Round, debarment from the next NEET UG. Candidates must read the exit clause in the 2026 information bulletin before locking any choice.

NEET UG 2026 Choice Filling and Locking: Mistakes That Cost Seats

Choice filling is the step that decides your allotment, and it is where most avoidable losses occur. Candidates should order preferences strictly by genuine preference rather than by expected cut-off, fill a long list rather than a short one, and lock choices before the deadline — unlocked choices are auto-locked at closure, and any choice left unfilled cannot be considered. Take a printout of the locked choice list as proof.

NEET 2026 Seat Matrix: What MCC Releases Before Round 1

Before every round, MCC publishes a seat matrix showing the exact number of seats available in each participating college, broken down by category and quota. The Round 1 matrix is the first hard number candidates get on their real chances — expected marks and safe scores are guesswork until it appears. The matrix is revised for each subsequent round to reflect vacancies carried forward.

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Registration: Step-by-Step Process at mcc.nic.in

With the Re-NEET UG 2026 result declared, attention now turns to registration on the MCC portal. Qualifying NEET does not automatically enter you into counselling — a separate registration is mandatory. The process runs as: New Registration on mcc.nic.in → enter NEET roll number and details → generate credentials → complete the form and upload photograph and signature → pay the registration fee and security deposit → choice filling and locking → seat allotment → reporting to the allotted college.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling Eligibility: Qualifying Is Not the Same as Registering

Clearing the qualifying percentile makes a candidate eligible for counselling — it does not enrol them in it. To participate, a candidate must have an All India Rank from the Re-NEET UG 2026 result, must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, must meet the minimum age requirement of 17 years, and must complete a fresh registration on the relevant counselling portal. Each of the 11.21 lakh qualified candidates must register separately for AIQ and state counselling.

The Medical Counselling Committee has not yet notified the NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule. MCC begins the allotment process only after receiving the result and the qualified candidate data from NTA, which has now been transmitted following the result declaration. The official Round 1 schedule is expected on mcc.nic.in in the coming days. Candidates should disregard any circulating date that is not carried on the official portal.

NEET Counselling 2026: Which Authority Conducts Which Seats

Not all NEET seats are allotted by the same body, and confusing them costs candidates rounds. MCC conducts counselling for 15% AIQ seats, deemed universities, central universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC and AFMS institutes. State counselling authorities conduct the 85% State Quota. AACCC conducts AYUSH counselling. Each requires its own registration on its own portal.

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Rounds: How the Four Rounds Work

MCC conducts AIQ counselling in four online rounds — Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round. Each round follows the same fixed sequence: seat matrix → registration and fee payment → choice filling and locking → seat allotment result → reporting to the allotted institute. Candidates who go unallotted or who did not register earlier can register afresh for Round 2 or Round 3, but not for the Stray Round.

NEET 2026 AIQ vs State Quota: The 15% and 85% Split Explained

Government medical college seats in India are split between two counselling streams. 15% of seats in state government medical colleges go to the All India Quota, allotted centrally by MCC with no domicile requirement. The remaining 85% are allotted by the candidate's state authority under state domicile rules. With 1,36,939 MBBS seats on the table for 2026-27, understanding which pool you are competing in is the first step in building a realistic choice list.

MCC NEET Counselling 2026 Registration Fee and Security Deposit

As per the previous year's information bulletin, AIQ registration was ₹1,000 for General/EWS and ₹500 for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, with a security deposit of ₹10,000. Deemed and central university registration was ₹5,000 with a ₹2,00,000 deposit. The 2026 figures will be confirmed in the MCC information bulletin.

1:50 PM | Re NEET Result 2026 LIVE: What's Next — MCC & State Counselling

Once the result is out, admission moves to the counselling stage. There is no separate counselling for re-exam candidates — the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the respective state authorities run a single, unified process, and the ranks of both the main and re-exam are merged into one consolidated All India Rank list. Broadly: MCC handles the 15% All India Quota seats, while state authorities manage the 85% state quota seats across MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS and BHMS courses.
