In a major relief for over 50 lakh students, the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department has officially commenced the rollout of the UP Scholarship Second Installment 2026. As of March 18, 2026, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated the fund transfer via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
Lakhs of students across Pre-Matric (Class 9-10) and Post-Matric (Class 11-12, UG, PG, and Diploma) categories who were verified by the District Scholarship Committee (DSC) are now receiving credits directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Students can track their payment through the official portal or the PFMS (Public Financial Management System). Follow these steps for an instant update:
Visit the Official Portal: Go to scholarship.up.gov.in.
Navigate to Status: Click on the 'Status' tab in the menu bar.
Select Academic Year: Choose '2025-26' from the dropdown.
Enter Credentials: Input your Registration Number and Date of Birth.
Search: Click the 'Search' button. Your real-time application status (Verified, Pending, or Disbursed) will appear.
Pro Tip: If the portal is slow due to high traffic, use the PFMS 'Know Your Payment' tool or the UMANG App to check the credit status using your Bank Account and Aadhaar number.
When you check your status, you might see one of the following messages. Here is what they mean:
| Status Message | Meaning & Action Required |
| Verified/Recommended by District Scholarship Committee | Good news! Your form is 100% clear. Funds are queued for DBT transfer. |
| Pending at District Scholarship Committee | Still under review. Most data locking ended on March 10, 2026. Contact your college if this persists. |
| Disbursed / Payment Success | The money has been sent to your bank. Check your Aadhaar-linked account statement. |
| Rejected | Application denied due to income mismatch, incorrect Aadhaar, or non-eligibility. |
| Blocked | Often due to "Management Quota" or suspicious data; usually requires manual verification. |
The UP Scholarship 2026 second installment is strictly based on income and verification filters. Ensure you meet these revised limits:
Pre-Matric (Class 9-10): Family income must be below ₹1 Lakh (All categories).
Post-Matric (General/OBC/Minority): Annual income limit is ₹2 Lakh.
Post-Matric (SC/ST): Annual income limit is ₹2.5 Lakh.
Mandatory Requirement: Your bank account must be mapped with NPCI (Aadhaar Seeding). If your Aadhaar is not linked, the DBT payment will fail even if your status is "Verified."
The transfer started on March 18, 2026. It usually takes 2–48 hours for the amount to reflect in your bank account after the department initiates the DBT.
If it still shows "Pending," it means your data was not locked by the District Committee before the March 10 deadline. This may happen due to document discrepancies or delayed college forwarding.
As per the latest 2025-26 rules, students admitted via Management Quota without a transparent merit/counseling process are generally ineligible for fee reimbursement.
The amount depends on the course. For example, Pre-Matric students get approx. ₹3,000, while professional course students (B.Tech/Medical) can receive between ₹12,000 to ₹50,000 including fee reimbursement.
