The CREST Science Olympiad (CSO) is an international competitive exam conducted online for students from Nursery to Grade 10. The examination is conducted in two levels for students of all eligible grades. It is an objective-type examination that tests students on practical science concepts and their ability to solve questions.
For Grades Nursery to 10, the examination is conducted in two sections. These are Practical Science and the Achievers Section. Students from Nursery, Junior KG, Senior KG and Grade 1 can take the examination with assistance from a parent or teacher.
The CREST Science Olympiad is conducted in English. Separate question papers are prepared for each class. The syllabus follows the curriculum of various international boards. The examination is conducted through web-enabled devices such as laptops, tablets, and desktops with a webcam. Mobile devices are not allowed.

For students of Nursery, Junior KG, Senior KG and Grade 1, a parent or teacher can guide them through the questions. If you register individually instead of through a school, you will take the examination from home.
The CREST Science Olympiad Eligibility requirements differ slightly for Level 1 and Level 2.
Students studying in Grades Nursery to 10 can participate in Level 1. You can register either through your school or as an individual participant. Students from different countries can participate because the examination is international.
To participate in Level 2, you need to meet the qualifying marking criteria of Level 1. The qualifying criteria can vary each year and may also differ for each class.
Level 2 is conducted for students from Nursery to Grade 10.
You can register for the examination through your school or as an individual participant.
Prospectuses containing registration forms are sent to schools registered with CREST Olympiads. If your school is not registered, it can send an email to info@crestolympiads.com to receive the prospectus.
The school needs to complete and return the registration forms by the specified due date.
If your school does not conduct Olympiads, you can register as an individual participant. Individual participants take the examination from home.
The registration process allows students to participate even when their school does not conduct the Olympiad.
The CREST Science Olympiad Syllabus is designed according to the grade of the student. The difficulty increases from lower to higher classes. The question papers follow the syllabus of various international boards.

For Nursery, Junior KG and Senior KG, the examination duration is 45 minutes. For Grades 1 to 10, the examination duration is 60 minutes.

The Level 2 examination will be conducted for students from Nursery to Grade 10. It is advisable to complete registration before November.
The examination fee is INR 275 for students studying and enrolling from India. For students studying and residing outside India, the fee is country-specific.
The answer keys are released after the examination. The answer key dates for the 2026-27 session are scheduled for November and December 2026 for Practice 2 and Level 1. The Level 2 answer key is scheduled for February 2027.
The answer keys are made available online. You can use them to cross-check your answers and estimate your score before the results are announced.
The results are generally announced within a month after the last answer key date.
The CREST Science Olympiad results generally take around 20 to 30 days from the last answer key dates.
CREST Olympiads provides different awards and certificates based on student performance and participation.
The awards and recognition include:
Achiever's Trophies and Merit Certificates for International Ranks 1 to 3.
Medals for the top 10% of students.
Merit Certificates for the top 25% of students.
Honourable Mention Certificates for students ranked in the top 25% to 50%.
Digital participation certificates for all participants.
There are prizes for 50% of the top scorers.
For grades where the examination has two levels, awards are based on the ranking achieved in Level 2.
