INBO Eligibility 2027: Age Limit, Qualification and Class-Wise Eligibility

The INBO Eligibility 2027 criteria determine which students can appear for the Indian National Biology Olympiad (INBO). INBO is the second stage of India’s Biology Olympiad selection process and is conducted under the National Olympiad Programme.

Students do not apply directly for INBO. They first need to qualify through the National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB) and be included in the list of students selected for the Indian National Olympiad examinations.

For the 2026–27 Olympiad cycle, NSEB is scheduled for November 22, 2026, while INBO will be conducted on January 31, 2027. The list of students selected for the INOs will be published by January 15, 2027, on the IAPT website.

There is no separate direct application route for the Indian National Biology Olympiad. The selection begins with the National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB).

The general route is:

NSEB → INBO → Orientation and Selection Camp (OCSC) → Further Selection Stages → International Biology Olympiad

Students who qualify for INBO must also complete the mandatory registration on the HBCSE website after the selection list is published. This registration is required to obtain the INO admit card.

INBO Age Limit 2027

The INBO age limit is determined as part of the eligibility rules of the National Olympiad Programme and the International Biology Olympiad selection requirements.

Students should not rely on age criteria from previous years because the eligibility conditions can vary by Olympiad cycle. For INBO 2027, candidates should refer to the official Science Olympiad 2026–27 brochure and the latest eligibility notice issued by HBCSE/IAPT.

Class-Wise Eligibility for Science Olympiad 2026

For NSEA, NSEB, NSEC, and NSEP, students must be studying in Class 10, 11, or 12 at the time of enrollment. They must also meet the prescribed age, education, and other eligibility conditions.

INBO Eligibility Requirements

Students should meet the applicable requirements before participating in the Biology Olympiad selection process. The key requirements include:

  • Meeting the eligibility conditions specified for the relevant Olympiad cycle.

  • Appearing for the National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB).

  • Being selected for INBO based on the applicable selection criteria.

  • Completing mandatory registration on the HBCSE website after selection.

The official Science Olympiad brochure should be treated as the primary source if there is any difference between information available on other websites and the latest official notification.

INBO 2027 Selection Process

The National Olympiad Programme follows a five-stage selection process for Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

For Biology, the process begins with NSEB and progresses through the Indian National Biology Olympiad and subsequent selection and training stages.

For the 2026–27 cycle:

  • NSEB: November 22, 2026

  • INBO: January 31, 2027

  • OCSC: Dates to be announced

  • Further training and selection: As announced by HBCSE

  • International Biology Olympiad: 2027

The dates and selection requirements for later stages will be announced through official channels.

What After Qualifying INBO?

Students who qualify through the INBO selection process may be considered for the Orientation and Selection Camp (OCSC) and subsequent stages of the Biology Olympiad programme.

The later stages are designed to identify and train students who may eventually represent India at the International Biology Olympiad.

Students selected for INBO should therefore keep checking official HBCSE announcements and complete all required registrations within the given deadlines.

The INBO Eligibility 2027 is part of the National Olympiad Programme's multi-stage selection process. Students must first appear for the NSEB and qualify for INBO according to the applicable selection criteria. They should also complete the mandatory HBCSE registration after selection.

Since eligibility rules can change between Olympiad cycles, candidates should check the latest official Science Olympiad 2026–27 brochure and notices for the final INBO age limit, qualification, class-wise eligibility, and other requirements.
