NSEC 2026: The National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) is the first stage of India's Chemistry Olympiad programme. The examination is conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
The NSEC 2026 examination will be conducted on Sunday, 22 November 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Students who qualify for NSEC become eligible for the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO), followed by subsequent stages leading to the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).

NSEC 2026 Registration Last Date
The last date for NSEC 2026 student registration was 14 September 2026. Students had to complete enrolment through the designated registration process within the prescribed deadline.
NSEC 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible to hold an Indian passport.
- Date of birth between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2012 (both dates inclusive).
- Must be residing and studying in India.
- Must be studying in an Indian school system.
- Must not have completed or be scheduled to complete Class XII board examination before 30 November 2026.
- Must not have commenced or plan to commence university studies before 1 June 2027.
- Must not appear for NSEJS 2026

To crack a competitive exam, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the exam pattern. Before starting the NSEC exam preparation, students should familiarize themselves with the NSEC 2026 Exam Pattern.

- Exam level/syllabus - Below CBSE Class 12 syllabus for Chemistry.
- Test Medium/Language - English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bangla, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, with additional Indian languages available if at least 300 students opt for them.

- Total Marks - 216 Marks
- Marking Scale - 3 marks are awarded for each question and in case of wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.

NSEC 2026 Result
The Indian Association of Physics Teachers releases the NSEC Result 2026 usually in the month of January. The NSEC 2026 Result will be announced by IAPT at the official website - https://www.iapt.org.in/. The toppers of NSEC exams will proceed to the second stage of the Indian National Olympiad (INO) i.e., Indian National Chemistry Olympiad. In order to view the results, students will need to enter their date of birth and password. Do note that the date of birth should be entered in DD/MM/YYYY format.
