NSEC Registration 2026 process has started for schools and examination centres across India. The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) has opened the online portal for centre registration from 1 August 2026. Student registration will begin from 21 August 2026 through registered centres and also through the official IAPT portal.

The National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC) is the first stage of the Chemistry Olympiad programme in India. Students who qualify in NSEC move to the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO) and may later represent India at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

Students studying in Class 11 or 12 who meet the eligibility conditions can apply for the examination. Schools, junior colleges, and senior secondary institutions can also register as examination centres if they meet the required conditions.

Candidates should complete the NSEC Registration 2026 only through the official IAPT website and avoid unofficial registration portals.

NSEC Centre Registration Process

Schools that wish to conduct the examination must first complete centre registration.

Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official IAPT website.

  2. Select the Centre Registration option.

  3. Register as the Centre In-charge.

  4. Enter school or institution details.

  5. Upload the required documents.

  6. Submit the registration form.

  7. Wait for approval from IAPT.

  8. After approval, receive a permanent Centre Number.

  9. Use the Centre Login to enrol students and submit examination fees.

A school must have at least 30 students enrolled in any one NSE subject to function as an examination centre. If the minimum number is not available, students can register online individually after the student registration window opens.

Students can register either through their school or individually after the registration portal opens.

The registration process includes:

  1. Visit the official IAPT portal.

  2. Login using the required credentials.

  3. Open the NSEC Registration form.

  4. Fill in personal information.

  5. Enter academic details.

  6. Select the preferred examination language.

  7. Choose the examination centre.

  8. Pay the registration fee.

  9. Submit the application.

  10. Download and save the acknowledgement receipt.

Every student has to pay the registration fee for each subject separately. The fee collected by the examination centre is divided between the centre and IAPT.

Schools keep ₹60 from every registration to meet examination-related expenses. The remaining ₹240 is paid online to IAPT. Students registering individually should pay the full registration fee through the official portal. The registration fee is non-refundable.
