Section 1 – Science: Tests students' understanding of scientific concepts from their class syllabus.
Section 2 – Reasoning and Aptitude: Checks logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Section 3 – Scholar’s Zone: Includes questions that test deeper understanding and the application of concepts.
The examination is conducted in English. OMR answer sheets are provided for students from Class 1 onwards.
For Classes 11 and 12, the Science Olympiad paper has separate subject options for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. According to SilverZone's published information, Physics and Chemistry are compulsory, while students can choose either Biology or Mathematics. Students can therefore opt for PCM or PCB, not PCMB.
Students should check the latest class-wise syllabus and paper instructions on the official SilverZone website before preparing.
The SilverZone iOS syllabus is based on the Science curriculum followed by CBSE, ICSE and other recognised State Boards. It includes Science concepts, Reasoning and Aptitude, Scholar’s Zone and questions on Applied Science.
SilverZone states that around 5% to 10% of the questions may be based on Applied Science. These questions test how students use scientific concepts in everyday situations. The difficulty level is considered according to the student's age and class.
The Class 1 syllabus includes basic Science topics that help students understand the world around them.

Students should download the syllabus for their class from the official SilverZone website instead of relying on a general topic list.
For Classes 11 and 12, the syllabus includes subject-specific topics from Physics, Chemistry and the selected Biology or Mathematics section, as applicable to the examination rules.
Students should review the latest syllabus for their class and subject combination before beginning preparation.
Level 1 is open to students from Classes 1 to 12. The examination takes place at the participating school during school hours.
The question paper contains class-specific questions from Science, Reasoning and Aptitude, and Scholar’s Zone. Students are assessed on their understanding of concepts and ability to apply what they have learnt.
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Students should read each question carefully and attempt all questions within the allotted time.
Students from Classes 3 to 12 can qualify for Level 2 based on their Level 1 performance.
According to the published eligibility criteria, the following students may qualify:
The top 1,000 students ranking from 4th to 1003rd across Classes 3 to 12, provided they score at least 50% marks.
First-rank holders from Classes 3 to 12 who score at least 75% marks, subject to the requirement of 100% participation in the respective subject from their school.
Students should refer to the official rules for the applicable class-wise qualification conditions.
Students who secure the first International Olympiad rank in Classes 6 to 12 at Level 2 are eligible for Level 3, as per the published criteria.
For the 2026-27 session, SilverZone's general update states that Level 3 will be held in New Delhi, India. However, the Foundation has also announced Dubai as the Level 3 venue for schools outside India. Eligible students should confirm the venue and other instructions through the official notification.
Level 3 gives selected students another opportunity to demonstrate their Science knowledge and compete for higher-level awards.
The SilverZone iOS examination carries 100 marks. Marks are awarded for correct answers according to the question's applicable weightage.
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
SilverZone also uses additional decimal weightage to resolve ties between students with the same raw score. The additional weightage begins at 0.0001 and increases with the question number. This is used while calculating Class, Zonal and Olympiad ranks.
SilverZone uses different types of ranks to compare students' performance.
The Olympiad Rank compares students from India and other participating countries who are in the same class.
The Class Rank compares students from different sections or divisions of the same class within a school.
Students may also receive Zonal and State ranks based on their performance. SilverZone divides India into zones for ranking and award purposes.
These ranks help students understand how their performance compares with that of other participants.
SilverZone provides awards to students who achieve high ranks in the International Olympiad of Science. The awards differ by level, class and rank.

Scholar’s Zone questions may require deeper thinking and application of concepts. Practise challenging questions regularly and try to understand the reasoning behind each answer.
Attempt mock tests under exam-like conditions. Check your score after each test and identify topics that need more revision.
Students should keep the following points in mind on the examination day:
Reach the examination room on time.
Carry the stationery required by the school.
Read each question carefully before selecting an answer.
Manage time according to the number of questions.
Attempt all questions, as there is no negative marking.
Follow the instructions given by the school and examination coordinator.
Fill in the OMR answer sheet carefully, where applicable.
The SilverZone iOS result is announced by the SilverZone Foundation after the examination and result-processing stages are completed.
Students should check the official SilverZone website or contact their school coordinator for result updates. The result may include marks, Class Rank, Zonal Rank, State Rank and International Olympiad Rank, as applicable.
The Foundation's updates indicate that results for its Olympiads are generally announced around February or March. Students should check the current session's notification for the confirmed result date.
The answer key helps students check their responses and review their performance after the examination. Students should look for answer key updates on the official SilverZone website or ask their school coordinator for information.
After checking the answers, students can revise the concepts behind incorrect responses and use the results to prepare for future Olympiads.
Students and schools can contact the SilverZone Foundation for queries about registration, the syllabus, exam dates and examination rules.
