Multiplication of Decimals

Ignore decimals, multiply as whole numbers, then place the decimal point by counting the total decimal places in both numbers.

2.3 × 1.2 → 23 × 12 = 276 → 2.76

Count decimal places after multiplication.

Division of Decimals

Convert the divisor into a whole number by shifting the decimal point; shift the dividend’s decimal point by the same number of places, then divide normally.

4.5 ÷ 0.5 → 45 ÷ 5 = 9

Always shift decimal points in both numbers equally.

Converting Fractions to Decimals

Divide the numerator by the denominator. Memorise common fractions for speed.
