7. The main function of testis is to produce sperms which are the male reproductive gametes. Testis also secretes a hormone called testosterone which is responsible for secondary sexual characters in males.
8. The main function of ovary is to produce female gametes called egg cells or ovum. Ovary also regulates the menstrual cycle after the girl reaches puberty. It releases a hormone called estrogen which is responsible for secondary sexual characters in females. It also secretes progesterone which is called pregnancy hormone.
9. Importance of reproduction in organisms:
   Living organisms reproduce to maintain their number & for ensuring the continuance of their kind, generation after generation. It replaces old and dying ones by young ones later these young ones feeds, grows and reproduces again to sustain their number. Hence, reproduction is the fundamental feature of all living organisms. It is the means by which life goes on. Life would not exist if organisms did not reproduce.
