Agnipath Scheme: The "Agniveer" initiative invites patriotic and motivated youth to serve in the Armed Forces for a four-year period. Participants will be enlisted under this scheme, offering them the opportunity for short-term military service. Approximately 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually, with the majority completing their service within four years. Following this period, only 25% of the cohort will be selected for reenlistment in their respective services for a 15-year term.
The Agnipath Scheme is a government program introduced by the central government, which aims to select candidates for a four-year commitment in the Indian Armed Forces. This year, the Armed Forces are planning to enlist approximately 46,000 Agniveers through the Agnipath/Agnipath scheme.
The Agnipath Scheme represents a significant initiative to bring in over 46,000 Agniveers to serve in the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. These recruits will initially commit to a four-year service period, during which they will receive specialized training in the necessary skills by the armed forces. This recruitment scheme is a transformative effort that will help infuse youthful energy into the armed forces. Additionally, it's worth noting that the Navy Chief, Admiral R Hari Kumar, has announced that women may also be included in the armed forces through this new scheme.
Those who are chosen for this recruitment process will be known as 'Agniveers.' As per the plan, Agniveers will receive a good salary and a retirement package after serving for four years. It's important to note that this opportunity is only available for individuals who join the military as non-commissioned officers, not as officers.
Lieutenant General Anil Puri, who works as an Additional Secretary in the Department of Military Affairs, mentioned, 'Currently, the average age is around 32 years, but in the next 6-7 years, it's expected to drop to 26 years. To make the armed forces more youthful, technologically adept, and modern, we need to tap into the potential of young people and prepare them for the future.' He also noted that after four years of service in the Army, the resumes and profiles of Agniveers will be remarkable, and they will stand out from the crowd due to their skills, attitude, and experience.
The primary objective of the central government is to introduce the Indian Army Agnipath Scheme. This scheme aims to provide training opportunities for young individuals and simultaneously reduce the burden on retirement and pension systems. The Indian government has implemented this initiative to boost our national security forces. Those who are chosen for this scheme will receive professional training and subsequent recruitment, focusing primarily on the Jammu and Kashmir border region.
A noteworthy aspect of this recruitment process is that there are no entrance exams for the youth. Once selected, candidates will undergo a six-month training program before being officially selected for a three-and-a-half-year period. This training is designed to prepare them for a professional career in the armed forces.
