Districts in Jharkhand: Jharkhand was created on 15 November 2000 after being separated from Bihar. At the time of its formation, the state had 18 districts. Over the next few years, 6 more districts were carved out, increasing the total to 24 districts. Since then, the number of districts has remained unchanged. Jharkhand officially became a state on 15 November 2000, after the Bihar Reorganisation Bill was passed in Parliament. At the time of its formation, the state had 18 districts, which later increased to 24. On 4 April 2001, Latehar district was created from Palamu. Similarly, on 30 April 2001, Simdega district was carved out of Gumla.
