The SSC CHSL Syllabus 2026 covers the subjects and topics prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission for Tier 1 and Tier 2 examinations. Candidates preparing for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination should understand the subject-wise syllabus, exam pattern, marking scheme and qualifying requirements before starting their preparation. 

The SSC CHSL 2026 examination is conducted in two tiers: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 is a computer-based examination covering English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. SSC CHSL Syllabus 2026

The SSC CHSL 2026 examination is conducted for recruitment to posts including Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC/JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade A.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 

SSC CHSL Exam pattern  Tier 1 is an objective-type computer-based examination. It contains four sections with 25 questions each. Each section carries 50 marks, making the total 100 questions and 200 marks.

*There is a 15-minute sectional timer for each subject. Candidates eligible for a scribe as specified by SSC receive the applicable compensatory time.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Negative Marking

There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer in Tier 1.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Syllabus 2026 

SSC CHSL exam is conducted in different levels, and the SSC CHSL Tier 1 Syllabus for each level varies. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 Syllabus of the exam consists of four sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness. Each section covers specific topics, as mentioned in the table below.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2026

SSC CHSL Tier 2 consists of four sections conducted across two sessions on the same day.

• Session 1: Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3

• Session 2: Section 4

All candidates are required to qualify all sections of Tier 2. Section 3 and Section 4 are qualifying in nature.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Note: Session 1 has a total duration of 2 hours 15 minutes. Section 1 is conducted for one hour, followed immediately by Section 2 for one hour and Section 3 for 15 minutes. After Session 1, candidates get a break for re-registration before Session 2.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Negative Marking

There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Tier 2. Section 4, which comprises the Skill Test/Typing Test, is qualifying in nature.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Syllabus 2026 

The SSC CHSL Tier 2 Syllabus 2026 includes various subjects, such as Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, and Computer Proficiency. SSC CHSL Skill Test and Typing Test 2026

Section 4 of Tier 2 comprises the Skill Test/Typing Test. It is conducted in Session 2 on the same day as the other Tier 2 sections and is qualifying in nature.

SSC CHSL DEO Skill Test 2026

The Skill Test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators.

There are two prescribed speeds:

For the 15,000 KDPH test, the passage contains approximately 3,700–4,000 key depressions. For the 8,000 KDPH test, the passage contains approximately 2,000–2,200 key depressions.

Candidates eligible for a scribe receive 5 minutes of compensatory time, making the test duration 20 minutes for such candidates.

SSC CHSL LDC/JSA Typing Test 2026

Candidates applying for LDC/JSA posts have to appear for the Typing Test.

The typing speed is assessed based on the accuracy of typing a given passage on a computer.

Candidates must select their Typing Test medium, Hindi or English, in the online application form. The selected medium cannot be changed later.

Candidates choosing Hindi as the typing medium are required to use Mangal Font.

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2026: Negative Marking

Candidates should understand the negative marking scheme before attempting the examination.

SSC CHSL Qualifying Marks 2026

The minimum qualifying marks prescribed by SSC for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Sections 1, 2 and 3 are:

Section 3, the Computer Knowledge Test, and Section 4, the Skill Test/Typing Test, are qualifying in nature. Candidates are required to qualify all sections of Tier 2.
