The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the General Duty (GD) examination for recruitment in various Central Armed Police Forces. The current recruitment cycle has around 25,000 vacancies.
A large number of candidates appear for the SSC GD examination every year. After the written examination, selected candidates are called for the Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test. Therefore, physical preparation is important for candidates who qualify for the next stage.
The current SSC GD recruitment has around 25,000 vacancies. There is very little possibility of a major increase in the number of posts in the present cycle.
Some changes were made in the list of candidates selected for the physical stage because of category-related issues. Candidates from reserved categories such as SC, ST and OBC were found in the General category in some cases. SSC later released a revised list of shortlisted candidates.
However, the revised list did not mean that the total number of vacancies was increased. The available posts and required selection standards remained in place.
The next recruitment cycle may have a different number of vacancies. The vacancy number for a future cycle will depend on the official SSC notification.
A large number of candidates are called for the physical stage compared with the number of available posts.

The high number of shortlisted candidates means that competition remains strong. Candidates must meet all the required physical standards and complete the physical test successfully.
The exact SSC GD physical test date should be checked through the official notice. Previous recruitment cycles can give an idea about the time gap between the written result and the physical test.

The past dates show that the gap can be different in every recruitment cycle. In many cases, candidates get about one to two months for physical preparation.
Candidates should not wait for the physical date before starting training. Running practice, stamina building and other exercises should be started early.
Candidates who qualify for the written examination are called for the Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test mentioned in the SSC GD Selection Process.
The PST checks physical measurements such as height and chest. The PET mainly checks running and physical endurance.

Candidates who clear the physical stages must also meet the required medical standards.
The medical examination may check eyesight, general fitness and other health-related requirements. Candidates can get their height, chest measurement and eyesight checked in advance at a suitable medical centre.
An early check can help identify problems that may need attention before the official medical examination.
