UP Board Class 12th Physics Syllabus 2025 Marking Scheme

The Physics syllabus is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. The total marks of the subject is 100 marks. 70 marks are reserved for the written exam and the remaining 30 marks for practical assessment. 

The syllabus includes important units like  electricity, optics, atoms and nuclei, and more. Students must prioritize high weightage units like Optics which carry 13 marks in Section B.

You must give importance to previous years' papers as well as it helps you prioritize topics based on their marking scheme and it also allows you to understand the exam pattern thoroughly. 

Both the parts carry 35 marks each and include important units which will help students in preparing for competitive examinations further. Here’s a marking scheme of both Part A and Part B.

While Part A carries 5 units in total, Part B carries 4 units, adding 35 marks in the exam syllabus. Part B includes the highest weightage unit named Optics. It carries 13 marks in total. Students must give focus on such units to score good marks in the exam. 

The practical examination carries a total of 30 marks which are further divided into internal and external evaluation. Students must score a minimum of 10 marks to pass the examination. The exam duration is 4 hours and it includes both external and internal evaluation. 

The external evaluation carries 10 marks and here is the list of things students should attempt to score marks:

• Any Two Experiments (2 × 5 marks)
  (One from Part A and one from Part B)

• Viva based on experiments

1. The UP Board Class 12th Physics Syllabus 2025 gives a detailed explanation about the exam pattern and the marking scheme. Students must go through the syllabus to create a strategy for exam preparation. The theory syllabus is divided in Part A and Part B, each carrying 35 marks.

2. On the basis of the marking scheme, you must decide which chapters to focus on. In Part A, prioritize “Electrostatics”, “Current Electricity”, and “Electromagnetic Induction” as each carries 7–8 marks. For Part B, “Optics” is the most important chapter, carrying 13 marks which is nearly 20% of the total theory paper.
