UP SI Height and Chest Requirements
The first stage of the UP SI Physical Test 2025 is the Physical Standard Test (PST). UP Police SI physical eligibility starts with height and chest measurements for male candidates, and height and weight requirements for female candidates. Below are the UP SI Height and Chest Requirements:

-
Female candidates are exempt from chest measurement but must maintain the required minimum weight.
-
All measurements will be taken without shoes and on a flat surface to ensure accuracy.
These UP SI physical standards for male & female candidates are non-negotiable. Candidates must meet the criteria as failing to meet it will lead to direct elimination.
UP SI Running Test Details
Candidates should begin their practice at least 3–4 months before the exam, as the UP SI running time is strict and aspirants fail this stage despite clearing the written exam. After clearing PST, candidates must attempt the UP SI running test, which is part of the PET. It evaluates stamina and physical endurance:
-
Male candidates: 4.8 km run in 28 minutes
-
Female candidates: 2.4 km run in 16 minutes
UP SI Running Test Details:
-
No extra marks are given for better performance, but failure to finish within the given UP SI running time results in disqualification.
-
The PET replicates the physical strain of real-life policing, like pursuing suspects or handling emergencies.
Candidates must work on building their running stamina gradually rather than attempting to meet the benchmark suddenly for the UP SI running test.
UP SI PST & PET Criteria
UP SI PST & PET criteria are created to check both physical standards and functional stamina. PST ensures the body’s frame is fit for duty, while UP SI PET 2025 includes measuring stamina for field operations such as patrols, foot chases, and riot control. UP Police SI Physical Efficiency Test is divided into two major stages:
-
Physical Standard Test (PST):
-
This test focuses on height, chest, and weight measurements.
-
Eliminates candidates who don’t meet the minimum standards.
-
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
-
This test focuses on endurance and stamina through running.
-
Only candidates clearing PST are eligible.
Why Both Tests Are Needed:
-
PST ensures the candidate’s physique is suitable.
-
UP SI PET ensures candidates can perform active policing duties, like crowd control or emergency response.
UP SI PST & PET Criteria confirm that only mentally sharp and physically fit candidates progress.
Preparation Tips for UP SI Physical Test
UP SI Physical Test 2025 requires basic fitness as well as stamina, strength, and consistency. Both the PST (Physical Standards Test) and PET (Physical Efficiency Test) are qualifying. Below are some preparation tips you must follow:
-
Running is the main component of the PET. Male candidates should gradually increase their distance to cover 5 km comfortably under 28 minutes, and female candidates should aim for 2.5 km under 16 minutes.
-
Apart from running, candidates should have good muscle strength to handle long hours of duty. Exercises like push-ups, squats, lunges, and planks will help you improve core and leg power.
-
As weight is checked under PST, maintain your weight accordingly. You must follow a balanced diet rich in proteins, whole grains, and vegetables, while avoiding junk food.
-
Good lung function is important for long-distance runs. Exercises like pranayama, deep breathing, or swimming boost oxygen intake and delay fatigue during the UP SI physical efficiency test.
-
Practicing under conditions similar to the actual PET builds confidence. Candidates should run outdoors on uneven tracks, wear appropriate running shoes, and time themselves strictly to meet the official UP SI running time.
-
Overtraining can cause injuries, which may affect test performance. You must get proper 7–8 hours of sleep and do stretching exercises.
