Note on Age Relaxation: The upper age limit of 38 years applies to the General (Unreserved) category. Relaxations of up to 5 years (making it 43 years) apply for SC, ST, SEBC, Women, and Ex-Servicemen, and up to 10 years (making it 48 years) for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

OPSC OCS Educational Qualification 2026

You must possess the required educational qualification before the closing date of the online application.

To be eligible, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university established under a Central or State Act.

  • Or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.

  • The required qualification must be completed before the last date for submission of the online application.

If you do not possess the prescribed qualification by the closing date, your application will not be considered.

OPSC OCS Nationality Criteria 2026

To apply for the Odisha Civil Services Examination, you must be:

  • An Indian citizen.

Proof of nationality may be verified during the document verification stage.

OPSC OCS Odia Language Requirement 2026

Knowledge of the Odia language is compulsory for the Odisha Civil Services Examination. As per the official notification, you must be able to read, write, and speak Odia. You can satisfy this requirement by fulfilling any one of the following conditions:

Other OPSC OCS Eligibility Conditions 2026

Apart from the age limit and educational qualification, you must also fulfil the additional eligibility conditions prescribed by the Odisha Public Service Commission. Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in the rejection of your candidature.

Marital Status

As per the official notification:

  • If you are a male candidate and have more than one living spouse, you are not eligible to apply unless exempted by the State Government.

  • If you are a female candidate and have married a person who already has a living spouse, you are not eligible unless the State Government has granted an exemption.

Government Employees

Candidates working under the Central Government, State Government, or Public Sector Organisations can apply if they fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions.

However, such candidates must:

  • Inform their Head of Department about submitting the application.

  • Obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent authority.

  • Upload the NOC while submitting the online application whenever required by the Commission.

Failure to produce the required NOC may lead to the rejection of the candidature.

Debarred Candidates

You will not be eligible to apply if you have been debarred by:

  • Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), or

  • Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), or

  • Any other State Public Service Commission,

for the period during which the debarment remains in force.

Eligibility Must Be Fulfilled Before the Closing Date

You must possess all the prescribed qualifications and fulfil every eligibility condition on or before the last date of submission of the online application.

Applications from candidates who do not meet the eligibility requirements by the closing date will not be considered.

Medical Fitness

After selection, you must be medically fit to perform the duties of the post.

As per the official notification, every selected candidate should:

  • Be in good mental and physical health.

  • Be free from any physical condition that may interfere with the efficient discharge of official duties.

  • Successfully clear the medical examination prescribed by the Government of Odisha.

Candidates who do not satisfy the medical standards may not be appointed.

Character Requirement

You should possess good moral character and meet the character verification requirements prescribed by the Government before appointment.

Name Change Requirement

If you have changed your name after passing the High School Certificate Examination or an equivalent examination, you must submit supporting documents during the recruitment process.
