Bihar STET Eligibility 2026: The Bihar School Examination Board conducts the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test every year. Candidates who want to appear for the Bihar STET examination. Bihar STET Eligibility 2026 is divided into two main levels: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is meant for candidates who wish to teach secondary classes (Classes 9 and 10). Paper 2 is meant for candidates who wish to teach higher secondary classes (Classes 11 and 12).

The examination board sets these conditions according to state government service rules for school teachers. Candidates must possess valid proof for every detail entered in their online forms. All certificates and degrees must come from universities or educational institutions recognised by official government bodies like the UGC or NCTE.

Bihar STET Educational Qualification 2026 differ according to the teaching paper and the selected subject group.

Qualification for Paper 1 (Classes 9 and 10)

• Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant main subject from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate marks.

• A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or a 4-year integrated teacher education degree (ITEP) from a recognised teacher training institute is mandatory for most general subjects.

• Reserved category applicants (SC, ST, OBC, PwD) receive a 5% relaxation in aggregate degree marks, making 45% marks eligible.

Qualification for Paper 2 (Classes 11 and 12)

• Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree (Post Graduation) in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks.

• A recognised Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree is required along with the post-graduation degree.

• For special subjects like Computer Science, candidates with degrees such as B.E., B.Tech (CS/IT), MCA, or M.Sc in Computer Science with 50% marks can apply. A B.Ed degree is not strictly mandatory for Computer Science candidates.

Bihar STET Age Limit 2026

The examination board calculates the minimum and maximum age of all candidates as of August 1, 2026.

• Minimum Age Limit: Every applicant must be at least 21 years old. Candidates under 21 years of age are not permitted to sit for the examination.

• Unreserved Male Candidates: The upper age limit is set at 37 years.

• Unreserved Female Candidates: The upper age limit is set at 40 years.

To provide equal opportunity to all social categories, the Bihar state government grants upper age relaxations.

 Bihar STET Nationality 2026

• An applicant must be a citizen of India to apply for the examination.

• Candidates must produce official government identity proof during the document check stage, such as an Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, or Passport.

• While candidates from other states of India can apply under the general unreserved category, state reservation benefits apply only to residents holding a valid Bihar domicile certificate.

Bihar STET Eligibility 2026: Number of Attempts

The Bihar School Examination Board has not placed any official limit on the total number of attempts. A candidate can appear for the test as many times as they desire, provided they satisfy all age limits and academic criteria for their respective category.
