For candidates preparing for primary teacher recruitment in the state, understanding the exact eligibility criteria is the first step before completing the one-time registration (OTR) process.

Meeting the minimum educational criteria, age threshold, and teacher eligibility test requirements on or before the application deadline determines whether your form remains valid. Below is the complete breakdown of the eligibility standards notified by the commission.

SUPER TET 2026 Educational Qualifications

Candidates must hold both an academic degree and an approved professional teacher training certificate. The eligibility conditions differ slightly based on the department:

1. Assistant Teacher Primary, Urban (Basic Education Department)

For the 11,508 posts in urban primary schools under the UP Basic Shiksha Parishad, an applicant must have completed:

  • A Bachelor's degree (Graduation) from a recognized university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the state or central government.

  • An approved teacher training credential, which includes any of the following:

    • Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or Basic Teaching Certificate (B.T.C.).

    • Two-year B.T.C. (Urdu) or Vishisht B.T.C.

    • Two-year Diploma in Special Education recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

    • Four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

    • Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education under NCTE Regulations 2002.

  • A passing score in the primary level Teacher Eligibility Test (TET Paper 1, for Classes 1 to 5) conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh (UPTET) or the Central Government (CTET).

2. Assistant Teacher Attached Primary (Aided Secondary Schools)

For the 897 posts in non-government aided schools (473 boys' schools and 424 girls' schools), candidates must possess:

  • A Graduation degree from a recognized university or deemed university.

  • An NCTE-recognized B.T.C. or D.El.Ed qualification.

  • A valid qualifying score in UPTET Paper 1 or CTET Paper 1.

Are B.Ed Degree Holders Eligible?

As per the qualifications prescribed in Advt 05/2026 and current regulatory directives, B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) is not listed as an eligible training qualification for primary assistant teacher positions. Only candidates holding primary teaching training diplomas such as D.El.Ed, BTC, or B.El.Ed can submit applications.

SUPER TET Age Limit and Relaxation Norms

The reference date for calculating the candidate's age is 01 July 2026.

  • Assistant Teacher Primary (Urban):

    • Minimum Age: 21 years

    • Maximum Age: 40 years

  • Assistant Teacher Attached Primary (Aided Schools):

    • Minimum Age: 21 years

    • Superannuation (Retirement) Age: 62 years

Upper Age Relaxations for Reserved Categories

Age relaxation is granted exclusively to domicile candidates of Uttar Pradesh:

  • SC, ST, and OBC candidates of UP: 5 years of relaxation (upper age limit extends to 45 years).

  • PwD (Divyangjan) candidates of UP: 15 years of relaxation (upper age limit extends to 55 years).

  • Ex-Servicemen: Military service duration plus 3 years.

  • Shiksha Mitras: Upper age limit relaxed up to 60 years.

Candidates residing outside Uttar Pradesh are considered under the Unreserved (General) category and will not receive age relaxation benefits.

TET Qualification Guidelines: UPTET vs CTET

Passing a Teacher Eligibility Test is mandatory before applying. The commission does not accept applications from candidates whose TET result is pending on the date of online form submission.

Key TET requirements include:

  • Level Required: Paper 1 (Primary Level, Classes 1 to 5).

  • Accepted Tests: Either UPTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).

  • Passing Marks:

    • General category: 60% (90 out of 150 marks).

    • Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC of UP): 55% (82 out of 150 marks).

Reserved category candidates from other states must score at least 90 marks in CTET, as they will compete under the open general quota in Uttar Pradesh.

SUPER TET Reservation and Domicile Conditions

Reservation rules apply under the Uttar Pradesh Public Services Act:

  • State Domicile: Vertical and horizontal reservations are strictly available to permanent residents of UP. Out-of-state candidates must select the Unreserved category.

  • Female Applicants: Caste certificates for married female candidates must reflect the father's name and address. Certificates bearing only the husband's name and caste status are rejected during verification.

  • EWS Candidates: Economically Weaker Section certificates must correspond to the financial year prior to the application year, following UP government personnel department formats.

  • One Benefit Rule: If an applicant qualifies for multiple reservation relaxations, only the single most advantageous benefit will be granted.

Document Verification Requirements

Selected candidates must present original records along with two self-attested sets during verification:

  • High School marksheet and certificate (used as sole evidence for date of birth).

  • Intermediate (10+2) marksheet and certificate.

  • Graduation marksheets for all years or semesters, along with the degree.

  • D.El.Ed / B.T.C. / B.El.Ed marksheets and certificates.

  • Valid UPTET or CTET Paper 1 scorecard.

  • Domicile and category certificates (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Sub-category) on state-prescribed formats.

  • Valid character certificates from the last attended educational institution and two gazetted/respectable officers.

  • Notarized affidavit in the format specified under Parishisht-6 of the advertisement.

Can final year D.El.Ed students apply for SUPER TET 2026?

No. Candidates must possess all mandatory academic and training credentials, including the final marksheet and degree or diploma, on or before the application deadline of 15 October 2026. Appearing or result-awaited candidates are not eligible.

Is CTET Paper 1 accepted for UP Assistant Teacher recruitment?

Yes. As outlined in Clause 7 of the notification, Paper 1 conducted by either the Uttar Pradesh State Government (UPTET) or the Central Government (CTET) is fully recognized for primary assistant teacher positions.

What is the minimum qualifying age for UP Primary Teachers?

The minimum age is 21 years as of 01 July 2026. Candidates younger than 21 on this cut-off date cannot apply, regardless of whether they have finished their graduation and teacher training.

Are candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh eligible to apply?
