GSET Eligibility 2025

GSET Eligibility 2025 norms are described in the official PDF. It is important to be aware that only academically qualified candidates can appear for the exam. Aspirants must verify their educational qualification, confirm their percentage as per category norms, and ensure subject eligibility before applying.

The absence of an age limit makes GSET a highly inclusive examination, encouraging participation from candidates across all stages of their academic journey. From here, candidates can find detailed information regarding the age limit, educational qualification marks, and other aspects of the GSET Eligibility Criteria 2025.

GSET Eligibility 2025 Overview

Understanding the GSET 2025 Eligibility Criteria is important because applications from candidates who do not meet the specified guidelines are rejected during verification. Check the eligibility conditions in detail, including the age limit and educational qualification requirements, along with a concise overview table for quick reference.

While there are no restrictions related to age, candidates must hold a postgraduate qualification in the relevant subject with a minimum prescribed percentage. The following table can provide the candidates with a quick overview of the GSET Eligibility Criteria 2025:

GSET Eligibility Criteria 2025
Criteria Details
Educational Qualification Master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks (General/EWS). Reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC–NCL/PwD/Transgender need at least 50%. Final-year postgraduates can also apply provisionally.

Note: This table highlights the fundamental aspects of the GSET 2025 eligibility requirements. Aspirants should check each detail carefully before proceeding with the application form.

GSET Eligibility Criteria

The GSET Eligibility Criteria 2025 define the minimum academic qualifications, percentage requirements, and category-wise relaxations that aspirants must meet to apply for the exam. Along with educational qualifications, provisions such as the absence of an age limit and special relaxations for reserved and PwD candidates make the eligibility norms inclusive and accessible for a wide range of applicants.

GSET Age Limit

Unlike many other competitive examinations, GSET 2025 has no upper age limit for aspirants. This means that candidates who fulfil the academic requirements can appear for the test regardless of their age.

This provision offers an excellent opportunity for candidates from diverse backgrounds, including fresh postgraduates as well as experienced professionals, to qualify for the post of Assistant Professor.  Therefore, aspirants can plan their preparation and appear for the exam at any stage of their career without worrying about the GSET Age Limit.

GSET Educational Qualification

GSET educational qualifications form the core of the GSET Eligibility Criteria 2025. Interested aspirants must fulfil the following conditions:

  • Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university in the subject they wish to appear for in the exam.

  • A minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) is required for candidates belonging to the General or General–EWS categories.

  • A relaxation of 5% is provided for aspirants belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC–NCL, PwD, and Transgender candidates, who require at least 50% marks.

  • Aspirants who are in the final year of their Master’s degree or awaiting their results are also eligible to apply provisionally. However, such candidates must complete their degree and achieve the required percentage within the deadline mentioned in the official notification.

  • Candidates holding a postgraduate diploma or a foreign degree must ensure that the qualification is recognised as equivalent to a Master’s degree in India. In certain cases, equivalence certification from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) may be necessary.

  • The subject selected for Paper II should correspond to the aspirant’s postgraduate subject. Choosing a subject different from the academic specialisation may lead to disqualification.

Thus, the GSET Educational Qualification criteria ensure that only academically competent candidates with relevant subject knowledge participate in the exam.

GSET Provisions for Persons with Disability

The Gujarat State Eligibility Test also provides specific provisions for candidates belonging to the Persons with Disability (PwD) category in line with the RPwD Act, 2016. Candidates seeking a reservation under this category are advised to mention their disability clearly while filling out the application form.

  • Only candidates with 40% or more disability are eligible to claim reservation benefits.

  • The disability must fall under one of the following categories as specified in the Act:

    • Blindness and Low Vision (VH)

    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HH)

    • Locomotor Disability, including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy (PH)

    • Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness (MD/OH)

    • Multiple Disabilities, including deaf-blindness and other combinations of the above

Exam Support for PwD Candidates

  • Blindness and Low Vision candidates are given 20 minutes of extra time for Paper I and 40 minutes for Paper II. They are also provided with the services of a scribe/writer, who should be a graduate in a subject different from that of the candidate. This compensatory time is available whether or not the candidate opts for a scribe. However, Braille test booklets are not provided.

  • PwD candidates from other categories (except Blindness and Low Vision) who cannot write on their own may also use a scribe/writer, but in their case, additional time will not be granted.

  • No compensatory time or scribe facility is extended to PwD candidates beyond the specified categories.
