The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET), conducted annually by the Karnataka State Eligibility Test Center at the University of Mysore, shortlists aspirants for the position of lectureship/Assistant Professor in Karnataka. The Recruitment rules and regulations are prescribed for Lecturers/Assistant Professors of the respective Universities/Colleges/Institutions (Government/Aided/Private) of Karnataka State Government who have qualified KSET 2024. Candidates who qualified for the previous KSET exam are not permitted to reapply for the same subject. KSET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the KSET 2024, candidates must meet specific requirements. The following KSET Eligibility Criteria will need to be fulfilled:- Candidates must have secured at least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50% for SC, ST, PWD, Transgender, OBCs (Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, and IIIB) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in the subjects opted for KSET.
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s Degree (First or Second Semester) or equivalent course, or candidates who have appeared for their Master’s Degree (Final Year) examination and are awaiting results, or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally.
- Candidates shall appear for KSET in their relevant subject of post-graduation. If the candidate does not find the subject of their post-graduation in the list of KSET subjects, they may appear in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET held twice a year.
- Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination was completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of the result) shall be eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in KSET.
- Other state candidates will not be eligible for reservation. They must score the required minimum of 55% or above, fixed for the ‘GENERAL (UR)’ category to be eligible for admission through KEA. SC/ST/OBC eligibility criteria are applicable to Karnataka SC/ST/OBC candidates only.
- Candidates eligible in previous KSETs are not eligible to apply again in the same subject. If found eligible in previous KSET tests and reappearing in the same subject in the current KSET, their candidature will be canceled, and the previous eligibility will be withdrawn through de-notification.
- Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by a foreign University/Institute should ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- KSET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/Institutions of Higher education (Government/Aided/Private) in Karnataka State. Exemptions from KSET are governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified in the Gazette of India.
- The KSET 2024 organizing committee has declared that they will not impose any age limitations on the candidates participating in the exam
KSET 2024 Exam Pattern
The KSET 2024 Exam Pattern consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam is conducted offline and the duration of the exam is 3 hours. The maximum marks for Paper 1 are 100 and for Paper 2, it is 200. The marking scheme is as follows: for each correct answer in Paper 1, candidates are awarded 2 marks, while there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Similarly, for each correct answer in Paper 2, candidates are awarded 2 marks, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.Karnataka SET 2024 Syllabus
