UGC NET Economics Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UGC NET Economics Exam 2024, candidates must follow these UGC NET Eligibility Criteria :- Complete postgraduate in Economics from a UGC-recognized college/university.
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.
- A Master's degree with the required percentage: 55% for General Category and 50% for SC, ST, OBC candidates.
- If awaiting PG results, complete the degree within 2 years from the NET examination date and submit the required percentage.
- PhD holders whose master's degree was completed before September 19, 1991, can avail a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
UGC NET Economics Exam Age Limit
- For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), candidates can apply up to the age of 30 years. However, candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (Central list available on www.ncbc.nic.in), SC, ST, PwD, and third gender categories, as well as women applicants, can avail a relaxation of up to 5 years.
- Similarly, candidates with research experience in the relevant/related subject of their post-graduation degree, limited to a maximum of 5 years, will receive relaxation if they provide a certificate from an appropriate authority.
- Those with an L.L.M. degree will receive a 3-year age relaxation, and candidates with experience in the armed forces will receive a 5-year relaxation based on their service duration. The total age relaxation, in any case, should not exceed 5 years.
- There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professors at UGC-NET.
- There is also no upper age limit for applying for UGC-NET for Admission to PhD.

Candidates must know the UGC NET Exam Pattern to prepare for the UGC NET Economics Exam 2024. The exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 has 50 questions and a maximum of 100 marks, while Paper 2 has 100 questions and a maximum of 200 marks. The duration of Paper 1 is one hour, and Paper 2 is two hours. The National Testing Agency will release the provisional answer keys and attempted question paper on their websites. Candidates can access the UGC NET Provisional Answer Key(s) for two to three days. They need to pay Rs. 200 per challenged answer key online as a non-refundable processing fee.
