UGC NET History Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UGC NET History Exam 2024, candidates must have completed a Master's degree in History. The UGC NET Eligibility Criteria for the UGC NET History Exam 2024 are as follows:
  • PG (streams) : Candidates must have completed a postgraduate degree in history at a UGC-recognized college or university.
  • Master's Degree :  Candidates from the General Category should possess an aggregate of 55%, while SC, ST, and OBC candidates must have a 50% aggregate.
  • PG Result Awaited : Candidates appearing in or awaiting the result of the PG Degree must complete their degree within 2 years from the date of the NET examination. They are required to submit their result with the required percentage; otherwise, they will be considered disqualified.
  • PhD Holders : PhD holders whose master's degree was completed on September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.

UGC NET History Exam Age Limit

  • The maximum age limit for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) is 30 years. However, candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (Central list available on www.ncbc.nic.in), SC, ST, PwD, and third gender categories, as well as women applicants, can avail of a relaxation of up to 5 years.
  • Candidates with research experience in the relevant/related subject of their post-graduation degree, limited to a maximum of 5 years, will receive relaxation if they provide a certificate from an appropriate authority.
  • Those with an L.L.M. degree will get a 3-year age relaxation, and candidates with experience in the armed forces will receive a 5-year relaxation based on their service duration.
  • For Assistant Professors at UGC-NET, there is no upper age limit.
  • There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Admission to PhD.

UGC NET History Answer Key 2024

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the UGC NET provisional answer keys on its website. The UGC NET provisional answer key(s) will be available for two to three days. Candidates need to pay Rs. 200 per challenged answer key online as a non-refundable processing fee. Challenges without justification or evidence or after the specified time period and those filed on any other medium besides the prescribed link will not be entertained.
