To apply for UGC NET, candidates must meet specific educational and age requirements.
General/EWS: Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate marks.
OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: Master’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.
Final Year Students: Those awaiting results can apply provisionally.
4-Year Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates with a 75% aggregate in a 4-year/8-semester UG program are eligible for JRF and PhD only (not Assistant Professor).
Assistant Professor & PhD: No upper age limit.
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):
Unreserved: Max 30 years.
OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Women/Third Gender: Max 35 years.
LLM Degree holders: Max 33 years.
The UGC NET consists of two papers, both conducted in a single three-hour session without a break.
