 UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2026

To apply for UGC NET, candidates must meet specific educational and age requirements.

1. Educational Qualifications

  • General/EWS: Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate marks.

  • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: Master’s degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.

  • Final Year Students: Those awaiting results can apply provisionally.

  • 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates with a 75% aggregate in a 4-year/8-semester UG program are eligible for JRF and PhD only (not Assistant Professor).

2. Age Limit (As of June 1, 2026)

  • Assistant Professor & PhD: No upper age limit.

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):

    • Unreserved: Max 30 years.

    • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Women/Third Gender: Max 35 years.

    • LLM Degree holders: Max 33 years.
