Step I: Calculate the number of candidates to be qualified: 6% of the total number of candidates who appeared in NET (both papers) will be eligible for Assistant Professor. Step II: Allocate slots to different categories: The total slots will be allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of Government of India. Step III: Eligibility criteria: Candidates must have appeared in both papers and secured:- At least 40% aggregate marks in both papers taken together for General (Unreserved) / General-EWS category candidates.
- At least 35% aggregate marks in both papers taken together for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and Third gender).
- Number of candidates who belong to that category and secure at least the required percentage (35% or 40%) in both papers.
- Total slots derived for that category ÷ Total number of candidates who belong to that category.
- The aggregate percentage of the two papers corresponding to this number of slots determines the qualifying cutoff for Eligibility for Assistant Professor for that subject and category.

The UGC NET Normalization Procedure for multi-shift papers conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Here are the key points:- For multi-shift papers, the raw marks obtained by candidates in different shifts/sessions will be converted to NTA Score (percentile).
- The procedure for calculating NTA Score is available on the NTA website under Normalization procedure based on Percentile Score.
- In cases where a subject test is conducted in multiple shifts, the NTA Score will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by each candidate. The calculated scores for all shifts/sessions will be merged for further processing.
- If the percentiles for different shifts are dissimilar or unequal, the lowest percentile will be considered as the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates (i.e., all shifts).
- For example, if the 40% marks correspond to a percentile score of 78 in Shift 1 and 79 in Shift 2, then all candidates with a percentile score of 78 or above in both shifts will be eligible in the General Category. This principle will be applied to other categories as well to determine eligibility cut-offs.
