Prashant Pachoria’s RRB JE 2025 Success Story shows that you can prepare for a government job even after spending years in a private job. After completing his BTech and working for around six years, Prashant decided to leave his job and prepare for RRB JE. With support from his family and consistent preparation with PW, he secured selection from the Bhopal Zone with a Merit Index of 81.66.
His journey also had its share of setbacks. He could not clear CBT 1 in his earlier attempt. Instead of giving up, he focused on becoming better every day, worked on his weak areas and continued preparing until he achieved his goal.
Prashant completed his BTech in Bhopal in 2016. He later completed a tool design course from Indo-German Tool Room and started working in 2018. After working for around six years, he decided to leave his job and focus on RRB JE preparation.
The decision was not easy for him. He discussed it with his parents and wife before taking the step.
"Life bhar regret karne se achha hai ki life mein ek baar risk le liya jaaye."
His family supported his decision and gave him the confidence to start his preparation.
Prashant had been thinking about a government job for some time. When RRB vacancies started coming up, he decided to make RRB JE his target.
While looking for online preparation, he watched several PW YouTube sessions. He liked the teaching approach and decided to join a PW RRB JE course.
"Maine har jagah dekha, lekin mujhe PW ka hi course aur saare teachers best lage."
He started his preparation with PW and followed the classes, PPTs and practice material provided to him.
Prashant's first attempt was a difficult phase in his preparation. He could not clear CBT 1 even after putting in considerable effort.
Arithmetic was also one of the areas he found difficult when he started preparing.
"Mere ko Arithmetic mein zyada dikkat hone lagi thi starting mein."
The result was disappointing, but Prashant did not want to stop there. He came across the idea of improving by 1% every day and started applying it to his preparation.
"Humko har roz 1% better banna hai bas. Maine isko apne mann mein bitha liya."
Instead of worrying about how much of the syllabus was still left, he focused on learning a little more each day.
Prashant followed a routine that allowed him to divide his preparation into different study sessions. On average, he studied for around 8 hours a day, although the number of hours varied from day to day.
He started his morning with yoga and meditation. He felt that this helped him stay focused and retain what he studied.
From around 9 AM to 1 PM, he focused on theory-based subjects such as GK, GS and production-related topics. After lunch, he studied technical and numerical-based subjects from around 2 PM to 6 PM.
In the evening, he spent some time working out and relaxing. From around 8 PM to 10 PM, he revised everything he had studied during the day.
"Raat ko sone se pehle 8 se 10 baje tak main ek baar sab cheez revise karta tha jo jo maine din mein padha."
He usually went to sleep around 10:30 or 11 PM.
Prashant decided not to keep changing his study sources. He mainly followed the content provided through his PW course and revised it multiple times.
He used the PW PPTs for revision and also made handwritten notes for topics that he frequently forgot.
"Main to sir aapka hi content padh, aapka hi saara jo padha hai wahi content ko baar-baar revise kiya hoon."
For Prashant, revising the same material was more useful than moving between different sources. This helped him stay focused on his preparation.
Question practice was an important part of Prashant's preparation. When he could not solve a question, he did not simply skip it.
He sometimes spent a long time understanding a difficult question and tried to find the concept behind it. He also maintained a separate mistake notebook.
"Jo nahi bane, main ek question pe aadha ghanta bhi kabhi-kabhi laga leta tha."
He wrote difficult questions and repeated mistakes in the notebook and revised them regularly.
Before going to sleep, he would revise one or two pages from his mistake notebook. This gave him another chance to revisit concepts that he had struggled with earlier.
Prashant did not wait until he had completed the entire syllabus to start taking tests. He preferred to take tests after completing individual topics.
"Ek subject apna complete ho jaata tha, to main uske baad us subject ke basis ke saare mock tests laga leta tha."
He followed a topic-wise approach rather than waiting for the complete subject to finish. After completing a topic, he solved related questions and noted down important points.
This also helped him avoid forgetting topics that he had studied earlier while moving on to new ones.
Prashant was married and had a young daughter, so managing study time and family time was important for him.
He joined a library where he did most of his focused study. After returning home, he spent time with his wife and daughter.
"Main ghar pe padhai nahi karta tha. Maine library join karke rakhi thi."
He usually spent around two hours with his family in the evening.
"6 se 8 baje tak do ghante kabhi-kabhi zyada bhi ho jaata tha."
His parents and wife also supported his decision to leave his job and prepare for RRB JE.
"Mere papa, mummy aur meri wife ke bina to sir possible hi nahi tha."
Prashant's consistent preparation finally resulted in his RRB JE 2025 selection from the Bhopal Zone.
He secured a Merit Index of 81.66. Seeing his roll number in the result was an emotional moment for him and his family.
"Maine apna PDF mein apna naam, roll number dekha to sir main bahut khush hua tha."
His selection was a major milestone after leaving his job, facing an unsuccessful attempt and continuing with his preparation.

Prashant's journey highlights a few simple lessons for RRB JE aspirants:
Do not let one unsuccessful attempt stop your preparation.
Focus on improving step by step.
Follow one reliable source instead of constantly switching between materials.
Solve questions regularly.
Maintain a mistake notebook for difficult questions.
Start topic-wise tests after completing each topic.
Keep revising older topics while studying new ones.
Give yourself enough time to understand the syllabus.
If you are in college, balance semester studies with RRB JE preparation.
Manage your study time and family responsibilities according to your situation.
Prashant believes that students should give themselves enough time to understand the syllabus instead of expecting selection after only a few weeks of preparation.
Based on his own experience, he suggests using the first phase to complete the syllabus and then spending more time strengthening concepts through questions and revision.
He also has a message for students who miss selection by a small margin. Instead of giving up, he suggests identifying the areas where they lost marks and working on them.
"Aapko thodi aur mehnat karni hai. Aapko thoda aur apne loopholes dhoondhne hain."
For college students, Prashant suggests keeping semester examinations as the main priority while gradually starting preparation for the non-technical sections.
"Semester exams ko saath mein main priority dein... aur saath mein ek ghanta non-tech ke liye nikaal sakte hain."
Another important lesson from Prashant's preparation was to avoid constantly changing study material.
He believes that studying from too many sources can make preparation confusing. Instead, students should select a reliable source and revise it properly.
"Do-das sources ki jagah ek hi source pe dhyaan deke poore bharose ke saath padhai karein."
For him, repeated revision and question practice were more important than collecting more study material.
Prashant's preparation started after years of professional experience and included an unsuccessful attempt before his final selection. His journey shows that students can start preparing at different stages of life.
His message to aspirants is simple: start your preparation, set a clear goal and stay consistent.
"Aap start to karo aur apna goal fix rakho ki humein ye selection paana hai."
