Before applying for RRB JE 2026, many aspirants are unsure about which documents they need, how to fill out the form, and which mistakes to avoid. The application process starts on 14 August and ends on 13 September, so completing each step correctly and on time is important.
RRB JE is a good opportunity for candidates looking for Junior Engineer and related posts in the Railway sector. Entering personal and educational details, uploading certificates, photographs and signatures, selecting preferences, and paying the fee can be confusing.
The important steps and details are given here to help candidates complete their application correctly and avoid common mistakes.
The RRB JE 2026 application process starts on 14 August and closes on 13 September. During this period, candidates need to register, enter their personal and educational details, upload their photograph and signature, select their preferences, and pay the application fee.
It is important to ensure that details such as your name and date of birth match your official documents, as incorrect information can create issues during the application process.
On the RRB website, you will see two options depending on whether you have applied to an RRB exam before.
If you already created an account for any RRB CEN in 2024, 2025, or 2026, you do not need to create a new account. You can log in using the same username and password. If you are applying for the first time, you need to create a new account by entering the required details.
Nationality and full name, exactly as recorded in your Class 10 marksheet
Date of birth, gender, father's name (spelt exactly as on your Class 10 certificate), and mother's name
An active email address and mobile number (all starred fields are mandatory)
After OTP verification of your mobile number, create a password combining a capital letter, a small letter, a special character, and a number. Confirm the password, preview your details, and your account is created.
You can log in in one of two ways:
Log in with Aadhaar: Requires a valid Aadhaar card with a completely accurate name, address, father's name, and date of birth. You'll verify your Aadhaar-linked mobile OTP and agree to the KYC terms.
Log in with RRB account credentials: Enter your registered email or mobile number with your password.
Once logged in, the main application window opens for you to fill in your data.
Keep these ready beforehand: your Aadhaar card or another photo ID (such as a driving licence), all relevant marksheets from matriculation up to your Diploma/B. Tech, and an active email ID and mobile number. Inside the portal, you'll fill in personal details, other details, educational qualification, your photograph, and your preferences.
Enter your name, gender, marital status, and choice of exam language. Your date of birth must exactly match your Class 10 marksheet, since a mismatch can stop your form and cause last-minute panic. You'll also enter your father's name, mother's name, religion, permanent address, phone number, and mother tongue.
For category/community:
Unreserved (General) candidates need no certificate.
SC/ST candidates with an existing valid certificate don't need to renew it.
OBC Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) candidates must submit a valid central-level certificate.
EWS candidates need to provide an Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format. The certificate should be based on the applicable financial year and issued after completion of that financial year and before the application closing date.
Only SC, ST, and OBC-NCL communities recognised by the Central Government are eligible for reservation in this recruitment.
If applicable, enter your ex-serviceman status. If you are currently working outside the Railways, enter your organisation's name. Otherwise, select “Not Applicable.” You also need to provide your bank account number and IFSC code. After entering these details, you will see a confirmation that your personal details have been saved.
Enter your roll number, state, district, board, and date of passing. Also, provide details of your applicable qualifications, such as B.Tech, M.Tech, or Diploma. If you have filled out an RRB form before, some details may already be saved and filled in automatically.
